Aguata Island (ah-gwah-tah)
Aguata Island is a chain of small islands in the Western Separ Sea and a territory of the Kingdom of Lacus Litore.
Geography
With the spine of the Dragon King Vephar serving as its foundation, Aguata is curved with many ridges and mountains. The earth is comprised mostly of a composite of soil and crystallized bone called wyrmite. The concentration of wyrmite is much higher in the mountainous peaks of the island, its amount decreasing with altitude.
Climate
Aguata is a mostly balmy climate with frequent cool sea breezes.
Fauna & Flora
The people of Aguata differ from those of Lacus Litore slightly. Natives may exhibit secondary aquatic characteristics such as fins, gills, or webbed membranes. Creatures living upon the island are not seen anywhere else in Sulheim, and are imbued with latent draconic energy.
History
As the Cataclysm wended towards its end and the Flood of Light unexpectedly washed across Sulheim, Vephar was killed and his body left by the Flood in the Separ Sea. Though his soul had left his body, legend holds that his will to live imbued his corpse with the ability to foster life.
Vephar's most faithful rushed to him once they had secured themselves, but upon reaching his body discovered that it had blossomed with flora and fauna alike. Indebted to the King that had saved them, the people settled upon the spine and named it Aguata Island. Over generations the denizens would come to call Vephar The Exalted One and carried on their faith well after the Kingdom of Lacus Litore suspended its national worship.
Many capable wielders of Odic Water are from Aguata.
