Jisra Evensong

Dark Lady Jisra Evensong

Sent to a convent run by hags when she was mere days old, Jisra (formerly Jiska), spent the first six years of her life in squalor and in fear. Things got better when Emerald Montclaire took over the convent and made it a safe place of healing.

Emerald then introduced her to the temple of Eilistraee in Waterdeep and Jisra was accepted into their care. At age 13, she became an Acolyte and started her service to Eilistraee.

Now 19, she has been sent to Strixhaven to learn other forms of magic and to get some "real-world" experience. She recently moved to the Moonlit Cloisters in Baldur's Gate after receiving a vision from Eiliestraee Herself warning of corruption in the temple in Waterdeep.

A Brief Interlude
21st Uktar, 1503 DR

Revered Dark Lady DeVir, Our first (and probably only) practice for Mage Tower went pretty well. I think we have a solid team and stand a good chance of winning. Before the practice, though, the student referee, gnome by the name of Rosie, asked us to search the Aerojaunt stadium and take inventory, telling us that it hadn't been done in years, and that we could keep anything interesting we find. And we did find interesting things! I found a Cloak of Elvenkind! Mist found a Cloak of Displacement, and Luckstone, and an Oil of Slipperiness. Star found a Potion of Climbing, which was given to me, since the Cats have a natural climbing ability anyway. The following day, we cleared Sedgemoor Bayou and ended the lives of several creatures. Not to worry, Mist made quite a delicious stew he called "gumbo" with the snakes and crawdads, so nothing was wasted. We continue to learn more about Muxagor. Star and I found out more about this "blood whip" ability he uses; it's part of the arsenal of something called an Oriq Blood Mage, a faction of mages that occasionally come to Strixhaven to start trouble because of some old grudge. Even if Muxagor is not a full blood mage, he seems to have some of their skills. In the past, they had targeted lonely, bullied, or otherwise outcast students, making Muxagor a perfect candidate for them. One could almost feel pity for Muxagor, if he hadn't gone off the proverbial deep end, messed with death itself, angered a Rakshasa, and killed three of his peers. The Mage Ball match is at the end of this ten-day, then exams and home to Waterdeep and the temple. I very much look forward to returning to the sanctity of the church and the closeness of our brethren. Until then, I remain a most humble servant of the Dark Lady. ~Jisra Evensong.

Hags and Dolls
17th Uthark, 1503 DR. Strixhaven

Reverend Dark Lady DeVir, Pray forgive the second missive in as many tendays, but much has occurred. We found a strange doll known as Sassy Sally Jane in an off-limits manor. Mist realized that everything off-limits here has led to more clues about Muxagor and suggested we investigate, and he was right. The doll is a creepy thing, and it talks, mostly saying rude things like "really, in those robes?" But occasionally it says sad thing, mentioning "Elidi" and "Ismeldor." Mist says the hag has an odd affection for the doll and that she would allow us to free the ghosts if we gave the doll back to her. We also put another doll back on the tomb of Miss Dapplewing, the niece of the previous owner of Dapplewing Manor, where we found the doll. We met a ghost groundskeeper who was trying to take care of broken graves and scattered skeletons after Muxagor killed him. Of course we helped him with his work, putting the skeletons back in their graves and fixing the graves as best we could, and he was able to go to his final reward. He did tell us that Muxagor had killed him as well when the ghost confronted Muxagor about what Muxagor was doing in his graveyard. We also met a flameskull! Another victim of Muxagor, his name is Vargas. He was doing classwork for the Lorehold college when he was abducted by Muxagor ally and experimented on, being turned into a flameskull. He seems nice, and kind of nonchalant for being a long-dead flameskull. He just wants to go back to classes and finish his studies. He is rooming with Mist, and Mist takes him to class, hiding as an ordinary skull. If he is questioned by classmates, Mist says that he is an ornate paperweight. I can't even begin to imagine what Vargas thinks about that. We have a few more tasks to complete, including a Mage Tower game. Mist has been secretly antagonizing Quandrix college, which led to the faculty declaring this Mage Tower match between Quandrix and Mist's Witherbloom to settle the college honor. The prize for the winning team is 400 gold per player. That would help many Flumphs! I believe the plan is for the three of us to stay in Waterdeep over Simril. I am quite excited to show my friends the City of Splendors in proper fashion. By the way, is that Simril clothing store still open? With respect and in Service, Jisra Evensong.

My first month here
15th of Uktar, 1503 DR

Revered Dark Lady DeVir, I have settled in well here at Strixhaven, and even made a couple of friends! They are both Tabaxi, one named Mist on the River at Dawn (Mist), and the other named Shadow of a Star (Star). We have bonded over being the outcasts of the school, the "exotic" races, but we have also already made quite a reputation. You see, there have been strange things happening on this campus--several inanimate objects have come to life, courtesy of a black substance called Eldritch Balm, and attacked bystanders. The three of us have been defeating them as they show themselves. There is also the mystery of the Sighing Spectors, formerly the Moonlit Grove Inn. An evil bullywog called Muxagor was a student here a hundred fifty or so years ago, and he did horrible experiments which ended up killing three fellow students--an elf, a Tabaxi, and a Drow! Their ghosts have spoken with us and even offered us help. They can only be released if they complete their final exams and graduation ceremony. We have agreed to help them, and they told us where to find their dorm rooms that had been boarded up. I was able to find and claim the Drow's holy symbol and moonblade, and I will be bringing them home to the temple when we visit Waterdeep over Winter Break. The Sighing Spector is owned and run by a hag, I'm not fond of her but she seems to know much about Muxagor, and, indeed, have a bit of a history with him. Then there is Sassy Sally Jane, a doll with a tragic history. We are still trying to find out more about about the doll, but I don't think that it has anything to do with Muxagor. Classes are going well, as are my job and involvement with the Student Mages of Faith. Mist has caused a bit of trouble, stirring up a rivalry between his college, Witherbloom, and another college, Quandrix. We will be having a Mage Tower match in a few tendays to determine matters of college honor. He apparently got arrested a few days ago, but the local constabulary has apologized to him and said that they will have "sensitivity trainings" as soon as reliable information arrives from Candlekeep. Mist has also been raising coin to help save the flumphs! I'll be bringing that coin to the temple as well. Star I'm not sure about. She is very shy, which I would think is odd for a bard, but she also comes from a very traditional family and has not gotten the chance to experience the world at large much. She has been performing at the student tavern, and gave quite a moving performance at the recent talent show. There are others as well, such as Mina, who runs the Strixhaven Star broadsheet, Quentillius Antiphuin Melentor III, who seems to have a thing for Star, and others who have been quite welcoming. I will, of course, continue to reach out to reach out to others, revel in the light of our Lady, and keep my two new friends (and the campus--but mainly my friends) safe from whatever threatens them. In service, ~Jisra Evensong, cleric Silverquill College, Strixhaven.
