Kobold Bank Notes

These bank notes are six inches by ten inches in size and are spaced so that they can be folded into quarters without creasing any of the writing or designs. Each branch of the kobold bank has their own design that is placed in the lower left hand side of the note. The ink for the seal is made with crushed insect carapaces blended with pitch, resin, and a small amount of high proof alcohol, so that it dried quickly.        The seal of the country that the branch is in is placed on the upper right hand side of the note as a watermark, using a set of oils and animal musk blended into a specific formula assigned to the branch by the main bank head quarters.        The top left quarter has the name and account number of the person who had the note issued against the funds they had deposited. The rank of how valuable the customer is to the bank denotes what color is used to fill this information out. Each colored ink has a blend of perfumes that were extracted by alcohol which dries the ink faster but leaves a very faint scent behind.        The right top quarter over the countries watermark, denotes the total amount the note is worth and the date it was issued. The value starting usually around five gold coins and moving up to (in some cases) the thousands denotes again what colors are used in the creation of the note. The blend of scents for denomination is different from those used to catalogue the client, making having only one set of the inks useless, especially since the colors are reused with different meanings in different areas.        The bottom left where the branch's mark works as a colored watermark of sorts tracks the clerk who issued the note, and their rank within the bank. This uses another set of colored inks with their own scents once again.        The lower right corner usually has something that looks like a woodcut stamp or an elaborate set of geometric shapes. These pictures or shape sets are changed every six months with a new set of instructions on which inks are to be used to color which parts. the pictures that look like wood cuts are actually placed with two to four stamps, to make the whole picture. This results in more color and scent combinations. The geometric patterns are done exactly the same way with multiple stamps.        There is supposed to be a master catalogue someplace that dictates which stamps and inks the various branches change to at different times but that has never been proven outside of the bank. Or at least if it exists no one who has seen it is willing to talk about it. With all of these variables that can be checked and investigated, no forgery of the kobold bank notes has taken place to public knowledge.

Purpose

The founders of the bank wanted to expedite the transfer of coins for larger purchases so that it would be more difficult to rob large sums from guilds, nobles, and those conducting bulk commerce.
