Be careful out there, don't talk to strangers and come home safe. You don't know what's wandering out there in the mists...

Origins

In the early days of the adventures, it would be reported that strange figures could be seen in the mists (later reffered to as Ghosts). Adventurers would be warned to stay away from them and stick with other members of their group which appeared to work for a while. However, disappearances began to happen. Not too frequently, but often enough that it became a concern, adventurers would describe seeing shapes in the mist shortly before a member of their party would dissapear. There were some who even described these shapes as having the sillohuette of a Strion.

Belief vs Reality

When adventurers started to dissapear, a fear started among the Strions. They became convinced that Ghosts were possesing those who became lost in the mists, and luring other adventurers to a similar fate. Because of this fear, adventurers became more cautious, they stuck together better and explored in a safer manner. The number of dissapearances began to reduce and people began to wonder. Was there really anything out there in the mists, or was it just overactive imaginations and careless andventurers getting lost?

True Wanderers

True wanderers is the name given to solo adventurers, and Strions who choose to adventure without a permenant place to call home. They are often hermits or outcasts and so there is already a small fear of them because they are not like everyone else. Despite this, Wanderers are often the ones who prevent the most dissapearnces by using their knowledge of the mists to safely return lost adventurers back to their party. Despite this, there are still some who believe that wanderers are truly evil and will do anything to prove this belief.

Impact on True Wanderers

Over the years, this has had a strong effect of how Strionan society views solo adventurers. Those Strions who were once seen as brave and daring for venturing out into the mists alone, have now become a cautionary tale to warn your children against. They are fear that keeps children from playing to far from home, or that stops young Strions wandering away from their adventuring party. But even if it has kept people safe, it has isolated wanderes even more than they were before. Strionan society has forgotten that they are indivisuals and treats them like monsters instead.
