Auri'll'ye Hiilshadaar

The eight planets in orbit around the star Sheratan belong to an alliance called the Auri'll'ye Hiilshadaar. All eight are habitable to some extent but they weren't always that way. Nomaie and Kinshei are the original planets, their inhabitants the true natives of this system.   A millennia ago, a group of alien scientists were conducting studies on terraforming and saw the potential in the other six planets in this system. As the Nomaiens and the To'ra were still primitive at this time they saw no reason to ask them for permission to use these other worlds for their experiments.   The results were decidedly mixed. The first world they knew would be problematic as it had no rotation, but they'd hoped for more in the way of habitable area on the night side. What they got was a habitable region in the twilight region and spotty habitable zones in the night side.   World three has low gravity. It has no axial tilt, giving it a mild and predictable climate.   The fifth worldproved to be quite fascinating with its diverse ecosystems. Part of the planet developed into a thick jungle while the rest was dominated by lush plains.   The sixth planet from the sun developed into a hot and humid world with many rivers and swamps. Forests of large fungus-like plants dominate much of the surface.   The seventh world had started its life as a gas giant, the only one in the system. They hadn't held a lot of hope for what the process would do to it, but one of the team members insisted on trying anyway. As it turned out she was right. The process converted the gas into a liquid. The whole planet was covered in water. With a little work they raised some small landmasses.   The last planet on the edge of the system developed an unpredictable weather system and is borderline habitable. A geologically active world loosely described as 'terrestrial'. The planet is typified by rugged mountainous terrain, but in the low-lying regions (and several high plateaus) dense forests surround a network of bubbling swamps and interconnecting streams. The gasses produced by these swamps are volatile and would prove to be poisonous to some of the later inhabitants of the system.
