The Arrival of the Towers by Yahreteh Hihla

[This document details the authors research in to the Lapothox Towersof Voswiadul as well as the material Lapothox itself. It is written by Yahreteh Hihla.]   ... constructed at an unknown time by an unknown builder. Were they built on this island during the Blink and then simply left to deteriorate? They certainly appear older than that. We know many things, places and even landmasses moved during The Blink - maybe these towers came from somewhere else? Perhaps the towers were always here, and the island simply moved to them? ...   ... and perhaps the most interesting question is not who [1], but why? The towers were clearly built for some specific purpose - but what that purpose is eludes me to this day. The lower levels of Naughaorth, for example, feature two deliberately placed obstacles - the famous Blade Barrier, of course, and the dreaded Orb of Ageing. These appear to be tests of some kind, but for what reason? Some kind of proving ground? A religious exorcise? We simply do not know. ...   ... Lapothox itself is a poor building material, but faintly magical. It is widely accepted that the stone was used in the construction of these Towers for this very reason, and almost certainly plays a role in the various enchantments found within the constructs. How any of this works, however, is still unknown. ...   ... unable to inspect the lower levels of any other ruins. When Naughaorth was breached via the sewers of Giniseve Reborn, a 'Keystone' was found within. It was confirmed that this stone granted access to the lower levels of Lapothox Towers - the stone blocking the stairway passage removed itself when the Keystone was in proximity of it - at both Naughaorth and Crimiss. However, the Galtian Archeological Society rarely releases the stone from their vault - and certainly wouldn't allow an 'outlander' like myself make use of such an important artefact. Perhaps more of these stones exist within other towers - but without a Keystone to grant access to the lower levels, we may never know. ...
