The Very Reverend D. Wayne Love

Reverend S5 (Socialist Space Sinners of Sugar and Spice)   DOB Unknown   (he/him/rev)   Known for his humility, hedonism, and holiness, The Very Reverend D. Wayne Love is the lead cantor and cleric of the holy gospel of the S5 congregation. While lady Spice and lord Sugar are considered degenerate patrons at best and illicit substances at worst in most civilised ports, Rev. Love founded the S5 after a particularly heavy acid trip lead him to the absurdist epiphany that ‘it’s turtles all the way down’.   Blackrock station is a natural home for the congregation and the Rev, and he delivers sermons twice a tenday in the tabernacle. Love’s sermons often involve song, censers trailing Spice smoke, and anointed blessings of Sugar. Most of the congregation is under the influence of at least one of the gospels' two patrons at any given time, and the Rev keeps the confessional boxes and reconciliation rooms well stocked in the hours before his sermons.   Love is attended at his sermons by his blue eyed acolyte, Larry, who wanders the pews with the collection plate, blessed bong around his neck, and holy sack of Sugar treats. Love’s sermons advocate socialism, kindness, and love among all beings, and attract incredibly hedonistic followers to the church.   Outside of his sermons, the Rev. wanders the walkways and piers of Blackrock, sometimes preaching loudly, sometimes in brief vows of silence. He frequents the dives, drug dens, and brothels of the port, but rarely spends time in the taverns, the gambling dens, or markets.   D. Wayne has a disdain for violence, although scuttle has it that Larry and a group of loyal followers have been known to deliver righteous beatings on those that harm members of the congregation. Nevertheless, Rev. Love espouses pacifism and peace through love, song, and mind altering substances, and avoids areas of violence such as the arena, the gallows, slave pens, and even Blackjammers throne.   The Very Reverend D. Wayne Love calls no lodgings home, but appears to move around amongst the holdings of members of the S5 church. He is always open to teaching the gospel of Sugar and Spice (and all other things nice) and welcomes newcomers to the church, but never attempts to coerce anyone into joining.   He’s a rarity on a lawless station of Pirates, and eschews possessions, power, and privilege - at least, in as much as he would have all members of his flock enjoy the same of all three.   NOTE: The Very Reverend D. Wayne Love was the persona of Jake Black, a beloved member of the acid house/rock/blues/country band Alabama 3, and sadly passed away many years ago. Please consider this a tribute to his particularly idiomatic style, and review his accomplishments at the following link:
