Celestún
Celestún, Yucatan was chosen to host the Morrison Academy for Higher Learning in large part due to the United States pushing to have the school established in the American continent, as a way to avoid British interference in the project.
Celestún was proposed by the Mexican government as a neutral location. While claims of neutrality from the Mexican government are suspect, the NU acceded to the Mexican proposal and decided for Celestún a remote town surrounded by ecological reserves to become the home of the school, easing security and safety concerns among the NU members.
