United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Morris Sohmer

The British Empire has been in steady decline since the end of the Second World War. After the war the British lost most of their colonies and saw their influence diminish as the Americans moved into their role as a Global Empire.   The crises of the 90s rapidly accelerated the decline of the United Kingdom, which tumbled from its status as a world power and nearly descended into anarchy at the turn of the millennium.   Following a slew of civil conflicts the UK managed to stabilize its internal affairs by empowering the King to nominate a special cabinet to restore order. By 2006 the UK had managed to restore order to most of their constituencies following agreements with the Irish Republicans and Scottish Nationalist movements. During this period the British lost control over most of their overseas dependencies which were taken over by lone meta humans taking advantage of the confusion to declare themselves kings of some island.   The UK has invested heavily on their security and intelligence services which were instrumental to their peace efforts in Northern Ireland and Scotland; moreover, the UK has led the Commonwealth's efforts into researching Meta Human Genetics and Development, concentrating their talent and resources in England.   The UK is currently under a left wing government headed by Angela Ava.

History

After the independence of most of their Empire, during the Cold War, and American supremacy in the economic sphere the British saw a reduction of their prestige as the most powerful empire in the world.   The steady decline of the British Empire was inflamed by the 1990s crises, beginning with the Pound Sterling's Crash of 1992, where the mismanagement of the Pound allowed for a catastrophic crash which lost billions of Euros for the UK through bank runs all around the British Isles and plunging living standards around the country.   Following the crash, clashes between Republican and loyalist forces in Northern Ireland escalated and expanded into the rest of the UK and Ireland itself, prompting the push for the creation of an independent Ulster.   During this period economic instability and fears of Downing Street incompetence heightened Scottish Nationalist sentiment which spiraled, thanks to the callousness of the Prime Minister into a full blown insurrection. In 1993 the Scottish Gaelic National League was formed by uniting all fronts of Scottish Independence into a single tent that would seek independence by all means necessary. By 1994 the league had increased in membership to 15,000 members and had been designated a terrorist organization.   In 1993 the Prime Minister, together with his war cabinet were assassinated by members of the Imperial Guard, a league of white supremacists based in England and Wales. This attack prompted Parliament to empower the King to establish a Special Security Council, a military apparatus organized by the sitting government and appointed by the King to wield extraordinary power in order to restore order around the Commonwealth.   The Council led a prolonged campaign rooting out terrorists from the government and public services as well as fighting and open war against separatist forces. The Council established a new branch for the Intelligence Services to wield their extraordinary powers, this branch was titled the Special Intelligence Apparatus (more commonly known as N15). N15 managed to capture the leaders of opposition movements and thanks to their efforts the Scottish separatists were defeated in 1998 and the Irish Republicans in 2004.   The constant economic crises of the 90s and general instability of the country forced the UK to seek closer cooperation with the European Union and their American allies. The UK followed the Americans in their 2001 "War on Terror", participating on operations in the Middle East and Africa meant to stop acts of terrorism and test new methods of war led by N15.   The Special Council was disbanded in 2012 after it was found they had abused their power to imprison and seize assets from political opponents while cooperating with insurrectionists within the UK and terrorist groups abroad the country. The Special Council was disbanded in disgrace and Parliament was restored to its 1993 status. During the 2012 elections a Angela Ava, leader of the left wing party was appointed to lead the UK as their first Prime Minister since 1993.

Prime Minister Angela Ava

Angela Ava (born 1968) is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and leader of the New Labour Party. She's a former public defender attorney and equity activist from South London. Ava moved to politics in 1997 as she emerged as a public figure advocating for more accountability for the Special Council and N15. She was appointed to the Ministry of Justice and headed the prosecution of many high profile insurrectionists and agitators.   During her tenure as Prime Minister she promised to ensure austerity for the government, account for all public spending and create new sources of revenue for the Commonwealth. She also headed a movement against the European Union, promising to recover the UK's autonomy from the Union.
