Alpha Zero

*Spoilers!*
(Read Dawn of a Sage Part 1)

The Alpha Zero is a wide-area dark magic field artificially created using a high-powered dark magic crystal. This field has covered the entire area of the Outback, and continues to slowly grow in size. A dark magic field negates the properties and effects of the official Leray veil, which causes a reduction in the effectiveness of Leray magic, while amplifying dark magic. The origin of the Alpha Zero is not yet known, but a warrant for Professor Brightworth has been issued by the Mage Council, suggesting he has something to do with this dangerous area. However, getting to the Den of Purity will be a challenge, since this dark magic field creates frequent spawns of dark magical creatures, which are very dangerous.

Geography

The Alpha Zero has distorted, warped, and destroyed much of the natural order of the Outback. Fields of grass and flowers have been burned to ashes. Trees have been reduced to lifeless stumps of burnt and rotting wood. The soil has been turned into a burning collection of dust and sand. The small wildlife has been eradicated entirely. The average temperature of the zone now reaches to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, but increases in the areas further north. The invisible dark magic field has distorted the flow of sunlight and moonlight into the entire area, shifting its color and effectiveness to create a blood red haze in the sky. Dark magical creatures frequently spawn here, capable of existing in this area with a special node to transport to. Some of these creatures are theorized to be mutated from other existing large animals.

Ecosystem

Hot and humid, very dangerous, lifeless to vegetation, and reduced protection from real time damage.

History

This zone appeared recently and has been sectioned off from the north exit in Lennith City by the General Army for further investigation.
