Duhn Empire
The Duhn Empire in southwest Zang extends over all of Duhnland, including the Duhn desert, the mountains in the south and the islands to the southeast. The empire also currently controls regions of the savannah in the north of Duhnland, where the native orcish tribes are a constant threat. Their supreme leader is the God-Emperor, chosen in a sacred trial, the fire baptism. Demographically the empire consists of mostly Nagarians and Tigrans, where true Nagas take up positions of leadership.
Structure
The God-Emperor of the Duhn Empire is chosen in a sacred tournament-like trial, the fire baptism. Of both species, Nagarians and Tigrans, any firstborn is allowed to enter, but usually the only survivor is the new Emperor. Due to their physical superiority the Nagas have a higher chance of success in that trial, leading to most emperors being Nagas. Exceptions have occured.
The Emperor "becomes divine" right after winning the tournament and from that moment on is the god of the people. He generally has supreme power, but is also assisted by many specialists and ministers.
Culture
Nagarians and Tigrans live peacefully together in a society, which accepts the other species as different but neither less or more worthy than their own.
Slavery is a common thing in the Duhn Empire. This ensures a good lifestyle for the wealthy. Slaves are treated as less than a free citizen, but are still valued more than animals. Treating your slaves poorly is generally frowned upon, since everyone knows that their wealth bases on the work of their slaves. Since Nagarians have a natural male surplus, the fate of a non-Naga male is usually not having a family on their own and a simple job or even slavery. The most common reason to be sold into slavery is when they themselves or their parents before the individual was of age amassed too much debt that they could never repay.
Since the Duhn Empire itself is very economically strong and they have a direct access to resources from the southern mountains through their active mining, jewelry and other displays of wealth is a common thing among Duhnians. Bracelets, necklaces and colourful clothing are very common here. The clothing is prosperous but also very uncongested and often very short due to the warm climate.
