Nagarians

Nagarians live in South-West Zang, in Duhnland. They share the Duhn Empire with the Tigrans.   There is also a remaining nagarian kingdom, Shazzir, in the west of the green forest, effectively separated from the Duhn Empire by the central Zangian mountains.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Nagarians are a humanoid species with snake-like features such as a snake-head, a scaly hide and a strong tail, but also humanoid/reptiloid limbs with sharp talons.   There is a sub-race called Nagas or "true Nagas", which, instead of legs and a medium-sized tail, have a very large and long tail, which they use to move around like a snake.   Nagarians in Shazzir and Duhn Empire Nagarians differ in appearence quite strikingly, most notably by their skincolour. While Shazzir are more colourful, ranging from green to red, Duhnlandian Nagarians are more often yellow or sand-coloured. Another difference is also the relative size of the cobra-"ears" that the male Nagarians have, which is smaller in Shazzir than in Duhnland.

Genetics and Reproduction

Every Nagarian woman's firstborn, male or female, will be a true Naga. Nagarian pregnancies are relatively short and give birth to an egg, which has to be brooded. In that time the mother can again become pregnant with a new egg. The male to female ratio in Nagarians is 3:1, resulting in a big male overpopulation. Their life expectancy is comparable to humans.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They mostly eat fish and crops grown on the river but do not care as much about the preparation of these foods, since they eat by swallowing it whole and digesting it over time.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Since true Nagas are visually distinctive from normal Nagarians, they assume many positions of power. No matter the gender, Nagas are usually the one to start their own family, and also female Nagarians, due to the gender ratio, usually get married, while male non-Nagas have it much harder to start their own family.

Civilization and Culture

Culture and Cultural Heritage

The original faith of Nagarians has been lost due to the introduction of the Duhn Empire and the deification of the Emperor. Now Nagarians, just like Tigrans, worship their leader, the Emperor, as their god and his word is law and truth. Everything that he does is right and his words have to be followed. There are priests that are devoted to care for the Emperors personal needs and preach his words and laws to the people.
