House of Arkäntall

The royal house of the Kingdom of Kilth, the house of Arkäntall has held the throne of the dwarven kingdom for over 400 years. Today an expansive house with a number of cadet branches, the Arkäntalls rule from the Kilthish capital of Ondhag, and claim as their home the great castle there.

The current head of the house of Arkäntall is King Jarall Arkäntall, who ascended the throne in in the 486th Year of the Prophet.

History

An old noble house of the Kilthians, the Arkäntalls rose to prominence in the wars against the Taronians over 400 years ago. Rallying the Kilthians behind themselves after the previous royal house of Habenstar was extinguished, the Arkäntalls were ultimately able to lead the Kilthians to victory against the Taronians to the east, sack Movrava, and reclaim the hardsilver crown which had been lost 200 years prior. Those successes silenced rival claimants to the Kilthian throne, and ensured the position of the Arkäntalls for many centuries to come.

Since then, the Arkäntalls have consolidated and centralized the realm, and even expanded it. Between 300 and 350, Kilth under the Arkäntalls conquered and annexed the disparate petty kingdoms and chiefdoms of Angerland, and converted them into five new Kilthian provinces. They also conquered the northern parts of Grand Tescary and organized them into the Duchy of Fahrig. However, the appearance of the dragon in mount Rhysk has blunted their ambitions.

The current king, Jarall Arkäntall has seen the Angerland provinces break away as war against the dragon and the Runberi have sapped the country's resources. However, peace has since been returned the realm and the Arkäntalls remain securely in control of the country.
