The Watchful Eye

The Watchful Eye is a starbase constructed in the Akhaale Gate system. Upon research concluding this is a large scale and long distance Arc Gate the empire began to speculate that while they cannot open the gate at this time that there is the possibility that it can be opened from elsewhere. To combat this the empire began work on the 'Watchful Eye' a starbase to conduct military and research operations in the system. Partially existing to slowly build up enough power to turn on the gate on their own terms and also to have a sizable military presence in the system to combat what may come through. 
Technology
The watchful eye was developed in tandem with the Goddess-Class Titan Ship to use Void Stone to help deflect fire upon it and to harden its hull to take shots better as well. The base is built to allow docking and refueling of larger spacecraft. The base is outfitted with a large amount of defensive and offensive weaponry. The most disturbing revelation is how many of the guns are primed to fire at not only the Akhaale Gate but the Eris constructed Arc gates in the system, presumably to try to limit spread of a potential invader. 
Time will tell if this is a sound investment or only something to give citizens of the empire much to ponder and speculate.
