Power Sources

Reliable, renewable energy sources are an essential component of advanced civilizations Not only for powering homes and services, but for powering the great vessels that travel across space. Space Fold technology requires immense amounts of energy, and the greatest of weapons requires sufficient power to achieve their devastating potential.

Power Sources

• Fission: Fission is a common energy technology developed by civilizations around the time of early space exploration. While effective at powering homes and cities, outside of exotic forms it isn't sufficient for a Space Fold drive.
• Fusion: Nuclear fusion is a reaction in which two atomic nuclei are combined to form one or more different atomic nuclei and subatomic particles (neutrons or protons). The difference in mass between the reactants and products is manifested as either the release or absorption of energy. This difference in mass arises due to the difference in atomic "binding energy" between the atomic nuclei before and after the reaction.
• Cold Fusion: Is a branch of fusion that accomplishes fusion but at room-temperature, making the reaction less volitile and easier to control.
• N-Way Fusion: In contrast to cold fusion, N-Way fusion fuses multiple nuclei together to produce energy. While producing large amounts of power, it also requires heavy shielding to avoid damage.
• Anti-Matter: Matter/Anti-Matter reactors rely on such reactions to produce high amounts of energy. Dilithium crystals, a substance that doesn't react to anti-matter, is generally used to help contain and control the reaction.
• Vacuum: Vacuum Energy or Zero-Point Energy is an underlying background energy that exists in space throughout the entire universe. Vacuum energy originates from the beginnings of infinite numbers of alternate realities. When harnessed for power supply, these fledgling universes are drained of energy in their infancy, resulting in their premature deaths. Understanding and harnessing this power requires a high tier of scientific understanding. Vacuum Energy Collectors can be extremely volatile and thus must be constructed with extreme care and durability, for a malfunction can cause predictable distortions of reality.
• Discontinuous Hyperoscillation Point Source Node: essentially an artificial black hole made possible by the Holzmaan Effect . The node doesn't so much 'generate' energy but is drawn from like a battery with an life expectantly of roughly 1.8 million years.
• Dark Matter:A reactor that relies on non-baryonic matter. Once inside the reactor core a Quantum Field is oscillated at the resonance frequency of Dark Matter and this causes it to split. This creates Exotic Matter , Exotic Energy and Quantaplex particles. The exotic energy is converted into electricity at the top half of the reactor. The Quantaplex particles have a strong Quantum Field that resonates at the same frequency as the Dark Matter inside the core. These particles decay almost instantly but there field exists long enough to split more Dark Matter that in turn creates more Quantaplex particles and so a chain reaction happens. This feed back loop makes the Dark Matter Reactor self sustaining.
