Mem'par'aci Empire

The Mem'par'aci Empire was formed in 1645 after the Ka Empire managed to unify their homeworld of Mempaq, in the year 1863 they managed to crack the secrets of jump travel, the first known civilization in the galaxy to achieve it. For the next several decades they concentrated on developing the worlds in their immediate vicinity, colonising their first two worlds, Yralda and Moraint int 1870 and 1876 respectively. In 1903 explorer ships first made contact with the Rojans, six years later they launched their earliest major military operation in order to subjugate the twenty northern rojan worlds, they were victorious within days against the relatively technologically unsophisticated Rojans.

Over the following years the Mem'par'aci only slightly expanded to the east, their main colonization efforts being directed westwards. in 1922 they first encountered their soon to be rivals, the Orion Confederacy. 3 years later a border incident around the minor Mem'par'aci colony of Karinthos sparked the first war between them which led to a wide neutral zone being established around Karinthos where neither power would settle. This peace would hold for several decades while the Mem'par'aci waged several other wars on the western front: The Kabarik war (1936-1940), the Uio war (1949-1950), The southern Rojan Subjugation (1947), The Jahl'pur war (1956-1958) and the Zykan war (1965). After the Zykan war the Mem'par'aci faced their first major bout with the unhappiness of their conquered species in the Rethla rebellion (1966-1974). Even worse for them, their current Emperor, Turhan'Ka was the last of the male line of house Ka and was overseeing the longest economic recession in their history known almost universally as the Turhan contraction by those who supported him or the Turhan collapse by his opponents. His death (some rumors say by assasination) in 1979 marked, after a fierce contest lasting well over a month, the assent of the first Emperor of house Vok, Kess'Vok.

After the disasters of Turhan's reign it seemed that there was little necessary for Kess to do to win the favor of the people but he did it anyway, rapidly stabilizing the economy so that by 1982 the collapse was officialy declared over. However before that happened, in fact within the first few months of Kess's ascension tension with the Orions, who had taken advantage of Mem'par'aci weakness to grow their own powerbase, escalated to the point that by 1981 a second shooting war began. The second Orion Mem'par'aci war was without a doubt, a decisive Mem'par'aci victory, but Kess, seeking not to upset the balance of power drastically with a long war against the Orions and wary of the Jahl'pur chose to agree quickly to a negotiated peace with only minor concesions by the Orions. He followed this victory with a second war against the Jahl'pur (1984-1988) successfully subjugating them. The rest of Kess's reign was relatively peaceful as he presided over a long term economic boom and the rapid growth of the Empire's power. Kess died peacefully in 2026 succeeded by his elderly son Petra'Vok who died suddenly just eight years later leaving his own son Fathra'Vok to rule. Early on in Fathra'Vok's reign the tensions with Orion again rose to much higher levels, this time however it resulted not in a shooting war but in the Mem'par'aci-Orion cold war. In 2076 unfortunately, the cold war turned hot. The two sides were able to agree to a new peace settlement in late 2081 after neither side was able to win significant victories in a war that was being waged primarily as multiple series of raiding campaigns. The last years of Fathra's reign saw the emergence of a new rising power onto the scene in the form of the Earth Republic.

Fathra'Vok was succeeded in 2087 by his grandson Juriel'Vok who throughout his twenty six year reign struggled with sharp discontent by the Empire's nobles and rising discontent among the Rojan populace as well a major recession in the early years of the 22nd century. By the end of his reign the Empire seemed battered by what it had gone through but as yet unbeaten as it again seemed to threaten to unleash its military power against its neighbors. Travian'Vok, unfortunately was incapable of expanding on his father's legacy, his plans to invade the Goralta were stymied by internal resistance and the start of the Rojan Rebellion in 2118 put his ideas permanently on hold. The secession of the High Nobles in 2120 embittered him and five years later he took his own life. His son Mithlis'Vok, unwilling to continue the bloody war signed a peace treaty with the Nobles and the Rojans and embarked on a reign marked for its peace and prosperity. His hand selected successor, his grandson Kelan'Vok entered into his reign with every intention of working with the Rojans and humans peacefully. That changed after the Orolokis attack. faced with the undeniable evidence of Rojan involvement Kelan adopted a new, more aggressive foreign policy until his death in 2218, he was succeeded by his brother Goryak'Vok who reigned through the brief Goralta war in 2223 through 2224 but died early in 2225 and was succeeded by Elta'Vok.

During Elta'Vok's reign he focused primarily on restructuring the Empire to prepare for what he thought was an inevitable war with the Rojans who had grown once again to be viewed, along with the High Nobles, as the great enemies of Mempaq, and with the expiration of the 100 year peace clause in the Tavik III treaty he began to prepare for a war with them. He would still seek to forge closer ties with both the Aramedians and the Earth Republic, viewing both of them as potentially powerful allies to assure Mem'par'aci dominance. Elta Vok's death in 2243 lead to the rise of his son Lokra'Vok, an already renowned statesman, to the throne. Lokra'Vok quickly assembled the Empire's might for what he considered to be the test run for future military operations in the brief T'pir war (2247-2248). The military's unsatisfactory performance in what should have been a month long war led to Lokra'Vok pulling back and deciding to give more time for them military to build up and develop new technologies. The 47 days war gave him a sudden appreciation for Earth's military prowess and as the Rojans were now formally allied to Earth he began building plans to include the humans in his war. Approached two years after the war with plans for a joint military operation against the Vurl slavers he accepted, glad to have both the additional Vurl worlds and the ability to view the human navy up close. The war was a brilliant success and gave Lokra'Vok numerous ideas for military reform which culminated in 2271 in the Kresh war. After a fews years spent integrating the Kresh, Lokra'Vok was ready at long last to invade the Rojans and although he set the preparations in motion doubts began to knaw at him to the point where in 2289 mere months before it was scheduled to launch he was ready to try to turn back the clock and seek peace...
