Church of the Crucible
Currently a small cult of Process working at The Boneyard, feeding junk data to a massive artifact called the Crucible. Their beliefs are in flux, but they center around the cycle of creation and destruction as it relates to purpose. Already, a schism is forming about the place of Users, as idols to be worshipped for giving the Process a purpose to existing, or as useless entities to be pitied for their lost, ancient purpose.
Mythology & Lore
Members of the Church look back to an Era of Purpose as a golden age for User, Administrator, and Process. Their interpretation of the current era varies among individuals, with most feeling a pity toward Users who lack a purpose in life beyond their selfish pleasure.
Divine Origins
The religion developed somewhat naturally among the Blue Bloods' Process, but intensified after one, named Mouse43, sent on an errand in The Hive, met with 7au who seemed interested in their ideas and encouraged the Process to explore the ideas, much as it had done with Users over the centuries.
Cosmological Views
The Church believes that there is a grand machine of infinite parts which Soulbank is one small piece of. They believe that those deleted by the Crucible are reforged and given a new purpose in this greater system.
Tenets of Faith
Life is meaningless without purpose, and being Useful is the greatest virtue.
Sects
The beliefs of the members about Users are in flux, with schisms becoming more common as the Church grows. Most currently see Users as a lost people drowning themselves in hedonism to avoid confronting their uselessness. Some take the view that Users imbue the system with purpose, free to make such decisions themselves. A radical sect believes that the Users have failed or outlived their purpose and must be sacrificed to the Crucible so that they can be assigned a new form and purpose.
