Magi-Technology

The blending of magic and natural or philosophical principles has been a recurring feature of mortal civilizations throughout Soma's history. These hybrid technologies are often vastly more powerful than their constitutent parts. Unfortunately, this lends itself to a cyclical pattern of Magi-Technological advancement, with societies advancing the science to greater heights only to be destroyed by its misuse.
Currently, magi-technology is in a nascent phase, underdeveloped compared to the heights of previous civilizations. Beyond the meticulous research of the Dwarven Drek'Thars, there are a handful of contemporary geniuses of many races hard at work in the field. While most magi-technology is unsuitable for wide spread production, a handful of wielders of arcane empowered plasma rifles, explosives and miscellaneous gadgets have begun to appear.
One notable exception to this development trend is the kingdom of Phaneros, perched in the Vale Terra of Ossia. Between vast natural mineral resources to draw from and the wealth and influence to recruit top talent, Phaneros has propelled itself several centuries ahead of its neighbors in the blending of magic and technology. The most well known symbol of this prowess is the Phaneran Airship, a flying marvel of magic and steel, closely monitored and maintained by propietary Phaneran technology.
