ESS Victorious

ESS Victorious is a destroyer of the Inspiration-class in the imperial navy generally used for patrolling the border regions as well as the many settled systems. For many new captains in the navy, some of their first stations will be onboard an Inspiration class destroyer and will followingly be tasked with patrolling a system for a set amount of time.
ESS Victorious is an older ship and is overdue for a retrofit but even if in need of an upgrade, she is not showing her age thanks to the crew who is said to be some of the toughest sailors in the destroyer fleet. The ship also has a reputation as somewhat of a troublemaker with the ship often during exercises read the spirit of the order instead of the direct meaning of it but they always succeed in their missions so the admiralty tends to only raise a half-hearted finger at the ship.
Over the years the ship has also been the first command of a couple of now high-ranking officers.
Vicky as her crew has come to call her would in 2441 serve as the only patrol craft in the Mersa system when a group belonging to the Jade Tigers a large criminal organisation attacked the system with a fleet of 5 civilian freighters converted into primitive warships. Thanks to the ship being on the far side of one of the planets when the gang did a scan of the area the ship did not register so were able to get the jump on the gang and with two well-placed torpedo runs was able to destroy one and damage another of the enemy ships before they were able to return fire, although the ship took some heavy damage she was able to with the canons destroy the damaged enemy ship. Before she could do another torpedo run the gang decided that it was not worth it and jumped out.
The battle would earn ESS Victorious another battle honour and another two skulls painted on the side of the ship next to her always impressive number of skulls representing destroyed pirates and other criminals.

Weapons & Armament

Most of the Inspiration class destroyers have two forward-facing canons along with 4 torpedo tubes making them excellently suited for wolfpack tactics and swarm tactics.

The armour of the ship is relatively weak compared to the larger ships but a philosophy that was predominant during the creation of the Inspiration class was "Trading armour for speed"
