Flames of Fodizhna

"On the 19th of ZilraPri, our Matron, Lith Omlar, bore Their twins of scorching fire. Months prior, They were gifted the insight of Fodizhna on Their day of inauguration. Becoming a Leaf after two healthy births would be seen as an Omen, but We see it as the Wyrm protecting His Champion."
---Lith Makena, last of the Omlar title, describing the Order

Mythology & Lore

The main mythos in Typhon's Court is the story of The Egg of Tenebris, which outlines how the Prideful Drake, Typhon, escaped Typhon's Teeth long ago. It is believed that He fooled someone into breaking His bondage; regardless of its truths, His escape left a Caldera behind.

Many Daemon believe that they should show reverence to the Drake, as He allowed them to introspect and divide for better harmony. It's gone so far as to name the island after him (as well as the Caldera he escaped from) and use the flakes of dead scales he left behind as legal tender. Typhon's Caldera is also used for many important rituals, such as The Night of Council, the Folgra holiday Zil ad Fodizhna, and even the inauguration ceremonies for Lith.

Divine Origins

There is additional mythos associated with the Caldera, which prompted this sect of Sha'ism to be created: the experience of Origin-Name Lith Omlar. It is a folkloreish legend that Their wings caught fire upon removal of Their Blade of Core, which could not be snuffed out until They leaped into the Caldera once more. Flames were also experienced once more, when They birthed Their twins, which had to be dipped in the Caldera as well.

When discussed amongst Humans, this latter ceremony can be associated with baptism. It is hard to not correlate the two, as Zil ad Fodizhna (or "Typhon's Soul") is the night that Fol Daemon are given free passage to Typhon's Caldera, so they may dunk their children into the element-infused waters. Daemon who have not had such blessings before, such as those who lived in the Human Lands, are also free to dip themselves in these waters.

This dunking of objects into water for protection and purity is associated with another ritual: the Rite of Cleansing. It is believed that the sect popularized this cultural phenomena.

Tenets of Faith

Similar to the Tenets of Fodizhna Himself, all members lead by the following tenants:
  1. Work for thyself, not for others: humanity is fallible, and works to their own interests.
  2. Rejoice with your successes: a lack of acknowledgment leads to a growing sadness.
  3. Confidence is the righteous path: show that you are infallible through your actions.
  4. Utilize charisma to your own benefit: show that you are a dependable leader.

Worship

Worship is highly preferred in the Order, as Typhon is an exceptionally-prideful creature. He does not require public nor private worship, however: the mere utterance of His name is sufficient to Him. Due to the natural circumstances of Typhon's Teeth, referring to the island itself will also draw His praise. This is because the Drake was monumental in the current structure of Typhon's Teeth.

The most common utterances that His disciples use are "Dragon's Maw" (another name for Typhon's Teeth), as well as the more direct, "Fodizhna's flames rage through me". References to flames is also used, but may be conflated with another flame-associated deity, Folgrina.

Priesthood

Priesthood is earned similarly to that of other Asezhurin faiths, where diligence will allow them to be spotted by Fodizhna, and called out by The Seer via Their visions. Once they receive such a visit, they will gain their relative scarification marks on The Night of Council.

The symbols of a Priest of the Flame are scales and flames, and are usually adorned onto the skin following the natural markings of the Daemon.
