The Eldonian Pantheon

The Eldonian gods, called the Eldier by historians and Vikti, are ancient, elemental forces that shape the cycles of life, death, war, and nature. They are not distant, perfect beings of alien motivations and nature, but living powers — fierce, flawed, and close to the struggles of mortal men in their motives.
They are devided cosmologically between the Aiseer, and Vaneer, the Aiseer are the human shaped deities stemming from Wodyn, and his brothers. the Vaneer are the gods of nature, and forests, who look to the mother goddess Mara for her protection.

Mythology & Lore

The myths of the Eldonian gods are woven from tales of struggle, sacrifice, betrayal, and endurance. They speak of a world shaped by conflict between divine forces — gods of wisdom, battle, nature, and desire — and greater powers both ancient and alien. Stories tell of gods who gained knowledge at terrible cost, who forged mankind from the wreckage of earlier creations, and who taught humanity the arts of survival, war, and poetry. Some tales celebrate noble deeds and great victories; others recount bitter betrayals, doomed loves, or battles fought against inevitable loss. Through it all, the Eldonian gods are seen as close to mortal men — flawed, driven, and bound by oaths and honor — their fates intertwined with those who remember and revere them.

Divine Origins

Origin

Cosmological Views

The world, according to Eldonian tradition, was born from conflict — a clash of raw forces, elemental and divine, that shaped the land, sky, and seas. The Eldonian gods emerged from this chaos, embodying struggle, wisdom, desire, and death, their fates intertwined with that of mankind. The heavens are not empty: the faithful acknowledge realms beyond the mortal world, including Elysium, where beings called angels dwell. However, the Eldonian faith teaches that these angels, revered by the First Faith, are alien to humanity — idealized forms of purity incapable of understanding mortal weakness, suffering, or the strength found through imperfection. Where angels seek separation and perfection, the Eldonian gods share in the burdens of men: struggling, sacrificing, falling, and enduring alongside them. In this view, it is not purity that redeems the world, but resilience, oaths, and the will to create meaning even in the face of ruin.

Tenets of Faith

The God's of Eldonia each have domains they are known for in lore with thier own Tenets of Faith.

Worship

Ritual Sacrifice
In times past, the highest form of worship involved the ritual sacrifice of enemies. Captured foes were offered to Wodyn, Nyessa, or Valdier in elaborate ceremonies that took place during significant festivals or before major battles. These sacrifices were seen as the ultimate tribute, symbolizing the triumph of Wodyn's followers and their unyielding dedication to defending Solacea.   For those of lesser means, sacrifices were made using oxen, sheep, and other farm animals sent to Vjolda. The wealthier devotees would offer oxen, symbolizing strength and endurance, while the common folk would sacrifice sheep or other livestock, representing their commitment and piety. The rituals were performed with great solemnity, often accompanied by chanting, drumming, and the reading of ancient runes.   Ceremonial Practices
Ceremonial practices also included the reading of sacred texts and the interpretation of runes, believed to be imbued with Wodyn's wisdom. These rituals were conducted by Runesmiths, the holy men of Wodyn, who served as intermediaries between the god and his followers. The Runesmiths would inscribe runes on stones or weapons, seeking guidance and blessings from Wodyn.   Vikti and Storytelling
The Vikti are more than mere storytellers like Skalds; they are the spiritual leaders and holy men of Wodyn's faith. They possess deep knowledge of runes and ancient lore, and they play a critical role in interpreting Wodyn's will. Vikti are known for their wisdom and ability to perform powerful rituals that can ensure victory in battle, bless crops, and even predict the future. They are often seen wearing intricate robes adorned with runic symbols, and they carry staffs or other ritualistic items that signify their sacred duties.   Feasts and Festivals
Feasts and festivals were central to the god's worship, marking important events in the agricultural and warrior calendars. During these gatherings, the community would come together to honor Wodyn or maybe Eastra with offerings of food, drink, and song. Stories of Valdier's exploits and the great deeds of his followers were recited, reinforcing the values of strength, wisdom, and resilience.   Modern Worship
In modern times Circa 1000 EA, the practice of human sacrifice has faded, but the essence of Wodyn worship remains. Offerings of livestock continue in some remote villages, while others have adapted to more symbolic gestures, such as the offering of weapons or crafted goods. The reading of runes and the telling of Wodyn's legends still play a crucial role in worship, keeping the ancient traditions alive in the hearts of his followers.
