Yumegatari is a massive fortress situated atop a small hill, its grandeur accentuated by the surrounding landscape. The shrine is enclosed by Japanese-style walls that form a plateau, upon which the main shrine building proudly stands. The structure is a harmonious blend of white stone and dark red wood, with brighter woods incorporated in various styles, all reflecting the traditional Japanese architectural aesthetic.
The shrine's entry hall is a sprawling space designed for festivals and gatherings, where Yuri, her Shrine Maidens, and esteemed guests convene for celebrations and joyful events. From this central hub, a labyrinth of hallways extends in all directions, leading to a myriad of rooms, corridors, stairs, and open areas. The layout is deliberately intricate, and without the guidance of Yuri or one of the Shrine Maidens, visitors can easily lose their way, wandering aimlessly until found by one of the playful foxes.
Yumegatari is designed with numerous living spaces for Yuri, the Shrine Maidens, and long-term guests. Open areas are integrated into the shrine at different levels, allowing sunlight to filter into most rooms, even those deep within the structure. This thoughtful design ensures that fresh air and natural light are abundant, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere throughout the fortress.
One of the most enchanting aspects of Yumegatari is its ever-evolving layout. Yuri frequently uses her magic to alter the shrine's configuration, adding or modifying rooms and passageways as she sees fit. This dynamic nature means that no map of the shrine remains accurate for long, adding an element of surprise and discovery for both residents and visitors alike. Giant bubbles float gently around the shrine, filled with guests who delight in the weightless experience or drift off into peaceful dreams.
