Basic Information

Anatomy

Angels have a humanoid form with a torso, two legs, two arms, and a head. On each foot, they have five toes, and on each hand five fingers. They have generally the very same basic anatomy as a Human, mostly because the Angels were the ones who designed most later species with the Gaia Seed technology. The differences between humans are mostly their insides, their wings, and their halos.

Insides

The modern angel, even before the start of the War in Heaven, has little similarities to the angels that developed on Heaven during the ancient times before the war. All organs are improved by the Cybergenetic technology of their civilization. Their lungs can store oxygen for days and filter out even the most viral toxins and viruses. Their digestive system is highly efficient to produce nearly no waste products and extract all their organism needs. Even their fat storages are enhanced to store vast amounts of energy in very little space, resulting in angels always looking thin and well build even while they have stored extra fat for months in their bodies. Through their whole system lay cybergenetic modifications that connect a multitude of sensors with their enhanced brain. This allows them to see their own bodies as a detailed system with information about digestion progress, fat and oxygen storage, muscle capacities, and more. They are able to use these cybergenetic systems to enhance certain parts of their bodies with extra energy, like improving the filter systems of their lungs or increasing the effectiveness of their immune system in the case that a deadly virus has infiltrated their bodies. You can see this cybergenetic improvement in the long metallic ear replacements that angels have. These interfaces are used to collect information about their environment, like detailed infrared and sonar scans. They are also used to receive and send information to their machines or other angels.

Wings

The wings of an angel are a status system. It is part of their cultural identity and they use them mostly for flying. Like most of their bodies, the wings are improved and are by far not simple wings like Earth's birds have them. Angels are able to hold their position in the air and can easily break the sound barrier with them. Depending on the rank of the angel, the number of wings increases. Angels that live in the paradise worlds or fulfill simple tasks are given two wings, one pair. The majority of them only have these two simple wings. Governors of whole sectors or generals of the armies have up to six wings, 3 pairs. The increased amount of wings does not increase their speed significantly, but only operates as a status symbol.

Halo

The halo of an angel is an interface that was implemented into the cybernetics of each angel after the War in Heaven by command of their supreme leader Gaia. The Halo shows the corruption of their cybernetics and their emotional stability. After the war, every angel either undertook a special operation that makes it near impossible for them to feel lust for blood or higher intensity of anger, or they were thrown into the Tartarus. It allows them to pacify themselves and to signal to other angels that their cybernetics work as intended. Every newborn angel receives their halo with their first cybergenetic implants. The Halo will have a color of bright yellow to white if all is fine. Should the halo turn red, then their emotional stability is destroyed and black halos symbolize a defect in their cybernetics. Such angels are quickly taken into custody by other angels to help them finding back their stability and repair their implants.

Biological Traits

Angels are a very diverse species in their traits and their exact looks. Depending on the task they take and the birth they were born, their Cybergenetic implants vary heavily. Different planets and societies within the bigger Fallen Angel Empire see different looks as desirable. In some, angels with long golden hair and blue eyes may be the beauty norm, which is followed by genetically engineering their newborns and themselves to fit this desirable look. In other regions of the multiverse, curvy bodies or black hair may be seen as the look of dreams. Due to their spreading over the galaxies and their high technological level, angels often change their own DNA and create new ethnicities without the angel species.

Genetics and Reproduction

Modern angels can hardly be seen as purely biological beings because of the many cybergenetic implants they have. At some point before the War in Heaven, they began taking the evolution of their species into their own hands and to improve themselves to the absolute maximum that their technology allowed. This makes them the most complex beings in the multiverse. Reproduction is depending heavily on the culture of the angels.

Natural Reproduction

Those that live more naturally in the paradise worlds will do it like in the old times. The female angel will lay eggs that are then fertilized by either a male angel or by another female with the help of certain extraction and transformation devices that allows the combination of their DNA with the egg to fertilize it. An angel woman lays a single big egg of the size of a baby. Traditional parents will hold the egg warm with their own bodies like in ancient times, while modern angels will use special chambers to hold their egg warm till birth. After 13 months of incubation, the new angel baby will break their egg and begins crying for its mother.

Cloning

Certain combinations of genes may be in trend or in need of certain tasks in the future. If the genes of an already existing clone string are taken, then we speak of cloning. A cloned angel will be the perfect replica of its clone parent. Clone strings are often taken from famous angels like scientists or entertainers, in times of need also of soldiers or politicians. The clone string is inserted into a 'False Shell', an artificial egg that has everything that an angel needs to grow similar to real eggs. The fertilization is already done with such a clone string and from there the growth is similar to natural reproduction. Due to the artificial way of creating life, it is common to use warmth chambers. Kids born from cloning may either be adopted into families or grow up in special schools to fulfill certain tasks in the future. The growth of a clone is the same as its clone parent. This method is mostly spread under the working class of the angels on the space stations.

Bioengineered Offspring

Sometimes, a very certain wish for a future general of angels or a single angel exists. They need to have very specific characteristics and genes. In such times, a bio tank is used to create a new angel with bioengineering. The DNA is created artificially in a laboratory and then placed into the bio tank, which is filled with nutrition for the growing new life. With this procedure, all can be changed. The new angel can be just like any other angel with the same growth stages and rate. Or it can be fully artificial, with a reduced growth time required, and already perfectly fitted for the special Cybergenetic implants. This latest form of reproduction is the rarest and not common.

Growth Rate & Stages

Hatchling

After birth, angels are helpless babies who are fully depending on their parents or the society around them. They are unable to eat normal food and need it to be partly digested by their parents before eating it themselves. Hatchling angels can be compared to baby birds of Earth. They stay in this stage for around 5 years before becoming children and less dependent on their parents.

Child

With their 5th birthday, most angels have grown into children. In this stage, they will receive their first Cybergenetic implants, which will grow with their bodies from now onwards. This early implantation allows the angels to learn the usage of their implants naturally while growing up. They will learn to walk and speak during this stage and will receive the first basic education. Depending on where they are born and how traditional their parents are, the exact way of learning differs heavily. While traditional parents, mostly in paradise worlds, will raise their kids naturally and by spending time with them, parents and caretakers on space stations will use implants to transfer knowledge directly into the brains of the growing children. This results in faster grow up and a quicker readiness for future tasks.

Youngling

Younglings can be compared to Human teenagers. They are in the last stages of their development and are theoretically able to take care of themselves. This stage is most often reached naturally on their 15th birthday. Their growth will slowly come to a stop and the last required implants are inserted into the younglings. They will begin going to the education facilities of their home to learn for their coming lives. Traditionally raised younglings will stay with their parents, while modern raised ones will begin walking on their own legs from this point onwards. During this time, they will also decide on a future job, if this was not already decided for them before their birth. Younglings are also easy to influence and will form their later character during the coming years. This is the most important time for them to prepare for adult life in their society.

Adult

At the finish of their education, angels will receive their last required implant: The improved wings. With these, they can travel fast and even teleport to known locations by bending spacetime around them. This is traditional with their 120th birthday and marks the entry for their adult life. They will begin working and move away from their parents or caretakers. An adult angel is a full member of society, can take any job, take decisions for themselves, and has all the required implants and improvements.

Elder

Old angels who are true experts in their fields or have reached immersive wisdom due to their age are seen as the Elder Ones. They are highly respected in the angel society and it is highly unlikely for any angel to object to the suggestion or idea of an elder. Elders stay in their job and will continue working like before. There are also no visible changes, as this is not a biological growth stage, but a cultural one purely. Generally, Elder ones are over at least 10.000 years old, but not all over this age are seen as elder ones.

Ecology and Habitats

Angels live mostly in three different environments. They differ heavily in culture, depending on the habitat and even their exact implants may be different. An angel is allowed to move between these different habitats, but it is uncommon for one to do so.

Paradise Worlds

The most traditional habitat for an angel is one of the many paradise worlds. These are planets that are terraformed into perfect Gaia Worlds, full of life and rich in food and everything that life requires. The first paradise world was the former home world of their species, Heaven. During the War in Heaven, most paradise worlds were destroyed and today only very few ancient ones are still existing. New ones were terraformed after the war. Angels who live in paradise worlds live in very traditional ways. They value family and their nests, they live in these paradise worlds without worries and in total peace and serenity. The majority of the angel species live in paradise worlds. Access to star systems with paradise worlds is highly restricted by the Fallen Angel Empire and setting foot on one of them by a non-angel is highly rare.

Space Stations

Specialized space stations are built in most solar systems of the angels. They differ heavily in size. The smaller ones are only big enough to hold small populations of several hundred angels, while bigger stations can be compared to moons and can hold billions of souls. Life on a space station heavily differs from station to station, depending on the size and the chosen purpose of the station. There are agricultural ones where life flourishes similar to paradise worlds and where angels love to live. There are scientific stations, build around interesting locations for observation and research, often above primitive worlds. But there are also breeding stations, built to produce future generations of angels, born and educated on these stations before they are sent to the other stations for their jobs. Angels living on stations are often workaholics. They live for their job and have a stricter life compared to those living in the paradise worlds. The stations are the backbone of the angel Guardians and the economy centers and military defense for the Fallen Angel Empire.

Guardians on primitive Worlds

Sometimes, a Guardian Angel is required to move onto the primitive world that they protect and observe. These angels live together with the primitive life, either visible as a mentor or god, or in hiding. They may have taken some chosen technology with themselves, but mostly depend on what they get from the primitives around them, the world, and what they can make out of their implants.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The enhanced digestive systems of angels are able to get nutrition out of nearly any biological matter. Angels live in many different worlds, space stations, and habitats. They need to adapt to the local source of nutrition. Before the War in Heaven, Angels were omnivores, eating plant-based food, but also eating the flesh of dead animals. They were carrion eaters. During the war, the nutrition changed based on shortages and the angels became herbivores by choice or cannibals. After the war ended, Gaia decided that eating flesh is barbaric and not fitting for the new peaceful species that she would lead. Modern Angels are nearly all herbivores and eat only plant-based food. Based on their planet, their local traditions, and their own preferences, the exact plants differ heavily.

Biological Cycle

Due to their technology and their Cybergenetic implants, angels have overcome any biological cycle and live free of these old traditional needs.

Behaviour

Angels of the past went through different phases of typical behavior over the millennia. At the start, the angels were a typical humanoid species with dreams and a strong sense of unity, which finally helped them create their empire. Over time, decadent grew and the species as a whole became egoistic, war-loving, and greedy, which finally led to the War in Heaven. Angels with this old, nearly forgotten mindset still exist trapped in the Tartarus.

Modern angels are genetically castrated in their emotions by Gaia. Emotions like affection, love, sadness for others, and joy became stronger and gained more facets and a wider spectrum, while emotions that were seen as dangerous like anger, wrath, and egoistic feelings like envy were reduced to an absolute minimum. Angels are able to feel these emotions, but they can rarely dominate their thoughts and behavior. Gaia wanted them to be warm and peace-loving. Never again should an angel want war or follow egoistic greed. Angels have a natural instinct for unity and often will let their own dreams stand behind the ones of the bigger community. Problems and conflicts are solved in discussions and mutual concessions. Most Angels are hard workers, who follow the hierarchy with joy as it gives them purpose and structure in their lives. New tasks and more significant responsibilities by taking a higher rank are done with respect and humility. For their friends and families, angels share a different kind of life, depending on the way they were born and grew up. Traditional angels hold their parents in great respect, while angels born out of bio tanks may see their creators or those they grew up with as a family.

Social Structure

Angels live in a highly strict social hierarchy. Depending on the planet or the space station, the exact properties of this system differ.

Gaia

They all have in common that there is a single being that stands on top of all other angels: Gaia. She is seen as the supreme ruler and the Goddess of the multiverse. The Angels see her as the bringer of peace after the War in Heaven and the protector of life with her Gaia Seed program. Only the angels trapped in the Tartarus deny her rulership.

Seraphim

Under the supreme leader stand the rulers of the universes. We call these the Seraphim. They are selected by hand by Gaia and govern in her stead. They decide how their given universe should be, how many species are allowed to exist in each galaxy, or which one becomes a threat to life and must be exterminated. Their word is final for their universe and can only be negated by Gaia herself. These leaders must fulfill certain aspects to even be a potential choice for Gaia. They must be strict enough to hold up the order, but also have big hearts and a love for peace and life. Together they form a court that advises Gaia on bigger questions for the multiverse.

Archangel

Next in order are the rulers of the galaxies, who are selected by the supreme leaders. They are called the Archangels and they take care that their given galaxy has order and allows life to flourish. Similar to the Seraphim, they advise their leader and rule in their stead. It is common for the Archangels to travel through the galaxy and inspect the stages of the Gaia Seed programs. They are also the angels that decide how many Guardian Angels each system receives and who these guardian angels should be.

Lower Governments

Under the Archangels, the structure differs heavily. We have system-wide governments or rulers of single stations. Depending on the importance of the structure and the amount of work and the culture of the angels living within it, the system heavily differs. There are strongly hierarchic ones with a single leader, while others elect their courts in democratic elections or via lottery.

Guardian Angel

The protectors of primitive civilizations are called Guardian Angels. They are given the task to guard over single planets or whole systems of lower tier civilizations. Most of them live close to or even within the societies of the primitives and help them to develop at their own speed. The exact way how a guardian handles this differs heavily from angel to angel. Some try to not interfere with the primitives and only protect them from dangers that they can't handle themselves, while other angels rule like gods and lead them directly. It is the responsibility of the guardian and in their decision range. In rare cases, the Archangel or even a Seraphim may decide that an Angel is not fit to be a Guardian Angel any longer and removes them from their position.

Facial characteristics

Due to the far spread and age of the species, they are very diverse in characteristic features. It is noticeable that angels have often heterochromia, having two different eye colors. The reason is most likely that it is seen as beautiful by most societies of their species. Instead of ears, angels have Cybergenetic interfaces, formed as long white ear-like objects.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Angels can be found everywhere in the multiverse, as they are the guardians and the oldest intelligent species. Most angels live on the paradise Gaia worlds, while a smaller but still significant amount lives on space stations.
The old enemies of Gaia are trapped within the Tartarus. And some guardian angels live on the planets they are tasked to protect.

Average Intelligence

Angels have superior intelligence compared to all other living species of the multiverse. Their Cybergenetic implants offer them near unlimited access to knowledge, helps them understand the concepts of reality and connect information for them for quick and clever response to any situation. Since birth, they are slowly getting common with new implants that they receive over their childhood, not knowing a life without them. Accessing the vast library of the wisdom of their ancestors feels natural for them. If you compare species like Humans with the angels, it would be like comparing a worm with a professor for quantum physics.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

All senses of an Angel are improved by their Cybergenetic implants. Depending on the exact specifics of their implants, their sensory abilities may be more focused or they may have special senses outside the general norm of the angels.

Visual Sensory

The eyes of an angel are not fully biological but improved with cybergenetic implants, allowing them to see faster and farther. While the Human Eye takes in up to a max of 200 pictures per second, an angel can easily take several thousand if they want to. Their eyes have an automatic zoom built into them, allowing them to see extremely far without any external devices like binoculars. The eye of an angel can see more colors than the human eye, up to infrared and radioactivity.

Enviroment Scans

The cybergenetic extensions visible as their ears allow an angel to operate a multitude of environmental scans. These scans include sonar, temperature scans, radioactivity scans, and even X-Ray scans of the environment. Depending on the exact model of their ear extension, there may be more exotic scans like for Pink Mist caused disturbances, the strength of the Soul energy of a person close by or material scans.

Hearing Sensory

The ear replacements are cybergenetic implants and modules that can take in nearly all sounds, including infrasonic and ultrasonic. They can hear the heartbeat of a Human through a thick wall if the environment is silent enough.

Taste and Smell Sensory

The taste and smell sensory is connected similarly to the typical Human ones. The cybergenetic implants help them to identify the exact aroma and they can taste the exact physical parts of what they eat, including the DNA of plants and other biomaterials. Their integrated database also includes all known viruses and toxins that they can take in by smelling and tasting to begin counter measurements or to warn the ones around them of the danger.

Atmosphere Scans

By taking in deep breaths, an Angel can do a deep analysis of the air around them. This includes the exact mix of gases and the pressure of the atmosphere. By analyzing the air and comparing it with their database, they can also identify most toxins that may be in the air, even small waste products of them.

Touch Sensory

The hands and certain other parts of their bodies like their feet have implants for touch sensory. They can feel the temperature, smoothness, and hardness of an object similar to humans, yet in a more detailed manner due to the implants. Additionally, their senses can bite off very small pieces of an object up to a single cell of skin to analyze the DNA or the chemical structure of the material or the lifeform in front of them.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

The traditions of the angels for their names vary from planet to planet and from station to station. Most angels are given family names that indicate where their origin was, often named after their home planet or station. Angels who raise in rank often choose new names for themselves, choosing from a pool of ancient and powerful names to symbolize their new purpose in life and the power that they were given to wield for all of their species.

Major Organizations

The angels are unified mostly in the Fallen Angel Empire. It formed out of the remains of their species after the War in Heaven. It is unknown if the angels that were banished into the Tartarus have formed new nations or grouped together, as contact is very rare and never directly.

Beauty Ideals

With the help of their technology, Angels uphold a high beauty standard throughout their whole species. It is common that other, more primitive species, see them as perfect beings, beautiful beyond compare in their own population. The smallest flaws are removed and most scars are prevented. If an Angel has any flaw or any scar, then it is out of their own decision. The exact things that are seen as beautiful by the angels differ from culture to culture in their big society. Angels that come often in contact with other species have typically white, perfect wings, the typical halo in a golden-white, white perfect skin, and golden hair. Many also have two different eye colors. Depending on the station or planet, this beauty standard can be very differently.

Average Technological Level

Angels have achieved the absolute peak of technology. There is little left to discover for them and little that is hard to achieve for their technologies. Creations like the Gaia Seed or the Fusion Collar are just a few chosen amazing inventions of the angels.
Their high technology level once lead to the War in Heaven, in which they also developed the strongest weapons imaginable, like the Dimension Bomb. Most of these technologies are forbidden nowadays and only found in highly restricted archives.

Common Taboos

It is absolutely forbidden for any Angel to use violence without need. Wars and exterminations are not tolerated in their society and are only used in the absolutely necessary amount to protect the primitive species from more advanced civilizations. Wrath and violence in general are taboos, the same as shown envy or greed. Angels feel that they developed after the War in Heaven, which means that anything that reminds them of these dark times is not tolerated by them.

History

Beginnings

There was once a planet known as Heaven. It is lost in time where this planet lay, nor in which dimension of the multiverse it exists. The surface of the planet was a paradise. No predator races developed on the planet, war was unknown to its inhabitants, and conflicts were solved with words and not weapons. In this garden Eden, the most powerful and ancient race of all developed. Long before the big bang created the universe in which the sol system with Earth laid, the angels dominated an empire that was bigger than human imaginations.
The Angels developed from a primitive bird race to a civilization that dominated the multiverse long before other intelligent life forms even took their first steps. The millennia of peace guided the race to the peak of its existence. Technology solved nearly all their problems. Aging was a thing of the past, long forgotten to the everlasting and immortal beings which the Angels became thanks to their Cybergenetic technology. Illnesses were terminated, same as all food problems, energy problems, and other primitive difficulties. Life was perfect for the Angels. Too perfect. The lack of challenges in their lives and the amount of time they had to fulfill this nothingness led to a state where most angels fell back to primitive needs. Planets like Gomorra fell first back into societies where the fulfillment of their own lust was the biggest goal. As the pure forms of lust were becoming boring after several thousand years, the angels began to become more creative. For the first time in millions of years, they began to risk their lives again, simply to get another push in their life.
What followed this spiral of degeneration was a weakened society. Less and fewer Angels maintained the defense systems for their worlds and less and less cared to observe the galaxies for dangers. If they would have been more careful, they would have seen it coming. They could have activated their shields, but they didn’t. The supernova that exploded not too far away from their home world destroyed everything in its reach, including the core of the Angel’s empire. Heaven was burning and with it the hearts of all Angels.

The great War

The different sectors of the empire fell into chaos as each was pointing their finger at the other. Nobody was guilty and all were. The arguments escalated and guided the Angels into war. First, it was only single planets like Gomorra that fell victim to the weapons that the Angels quickly developed out of their former peaceful technologies. A spiral of new and more powerful weapons quickly lead to more and more destruction. First, it was only planets, then whole areas of a galaxy, and several million years after the conflict escalated, the first universe killers were ignited, the Dimension Bombs. Trillions of souls were lost as whole dimensions crashed, and the room itself vanished with all its inhabitants. This time was called the War in Heaven.
After only one year with these weapons, 99% of the population was lost to the war. The Angels, which were not the generous beings they were before, but bloodthirsty animals now came together. Not for conflict but to escape the spiral of war. They saw that they had only two options, go on and destroy the whole multiverse and with it, all life that was left, or make peace with each other. A single angel invited them all to this conclave, Gaia. In one of the last implosions of a universe, she was thrown into the Pink Mist and became the first one that archived Godhood. The angels could not deny her call.

Everlasting Peace

Gaia knew that the Angels would go to war again sooner or later. Her decision to stop this was harsh and nearly lead to another war. She commanded her people to change. The Cybergenetic technology of the Angels was used to alternate the whole species. Their DNA was modified. Never again should an Angel kill another one. Never again should they feel envy, lust, or aggression in such dangerous amounts. They killed a part of their own culture, of their own psyche to protect themselves.
Those who resisted the changes were banned into pocket dimensions called Tartarus, which were then sealed off forever under the guidance of Gaia. She defined new laws and created a new society for her race. A society that concentrates its resources on the reservation and not destruction. They created the Gaia Seeds technologies, bombs that would create space and time in the lost dimensions and with it the potential for new lifeforms. After the bombs caused new big bangs, including for our own universe of Slimea, the Angels came down and spread life over the inhabitable planets. Life, that was similar to themselves, in the hope to have partners in the future. The Angels themselves would become observers. They swore to protect life from itself. The former strong empire of the Angels became a Fallen Empire, a sleeping Dragon that was not developing much nor declining. No new planets were colonized by Angels, no one was lost. The birthrate was regulated to avoid overpopulation like before.
With Gaia as the supreme leader, the Angels found new goals in life. They began to study how life developed, they began to guide the young races to a peaceful future. These races that seemed worthy, were given knowledge and technology to develop faster. Other races were terminated by the Angels as soon as they began to become a threat to other species in the galaxy. Never again would a big war devastate whole galaxies. As long as Gaia rules over the Angels, they would protect life in the multiverse.

Historical Figures

After the War in Heaven, most historical important figures of the past were lost and forgotten. Pieces of information about anything before this war is rare and incomplete. The first and most important historical figures for the angels is Gaia, the leader of their civilization and the first who achieved Godhood.

Common Myths and Legends

There exist myths and legends about angels in nearly every culture and civilization in the multiverse. Due to the Guardian Angel program, all had contact with the angels in one way or the other, resulting in many fantastic stories about their achievements, or their doings in the past. For most civilizations, angels are a mythical species sent by the gods to protect life and to punish these that act against the peace. While there is truth in many of these tales, there are also many examples of myths that are used by primitive rulers or churches to suppress their own people. Many stories are filled with lies to fit certain agendas.
One example is the fact that the angels are ruled by a being that archived Godhood. But differently to most male-dominated societies, who think that that god must be a man, the god is the goddess Gaia. Another example of a myth on Earth is that the demon species like the Succubi or the Devil were defeated in a major war by the angels. In reality, the devils of the Devil Conglomerate were never a threat to the angels and are not even close to being one.
The myth that god created species like the Humans in his image is based on truth. Gaia decided that most intelligent life should be humanoid like the angels themselves, to give these new civilizations a realistic chance to live in peace with each other.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Angels are able to mate with any humanoid species in the multiverse and there are many examples of them doing so. Especially Guardian Angels, who protect their given world directly, are known to form relationships with other species, often even resulting in children and the birth of new subspecies.

Due to the genetic modifications over the millennia and the Cybergenetic implants of their species, each angel is a monster compared to younger species. They are strong enough to lift hundreds of times their own weight and fast enough to circle around a planet in mere moments. They are the peak of cybergenetic life.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

As white is seen as the color of pureness by Gaia, it is common to see white skin and wing colors. Angels living on the paradise planets often fit their typical body tint on their environment, making darker colors on sun-covered planets more spread than white colors. Most angels have markings on their bodies and on their faces. These often symbolize their connection to certain cultures within the bigger Fallen Angel Empire, like coming from a certain space station or planet.

Related Technologies
