Von Aurach Crusade Forces
(The subject of this article are the forces of the Imperium that formed the Von Aurach Crusade. For the military campaign, go to this article- Von Aurach Crusade )
When the Von Aurach Crusade was approved in the hallowed halls of the Senatorum Imperialis, the ancient cogs of the Administratum would have immediately begun to turn, theorising and divining how many resources the crusade would require to achieve its objectives before making the divinations a reality with mass foundings, increased production and diverting munition convoys to an agreed naval assemply point which, in the case of the Von Aurach Crusade, was the segmentum fortress of the Ultima Segmentum- Kar Dunaish.
Divinations dictated that three Imperial Army Groups would be required, with a Battlefleet allocated to each one. As the foundings and formations began, secured astropathic communications were sent far and wide to the different military arms of the Imperium, asked they do their sacred duty. Many responded, inluding the Adpetus Sororitas and a number of Space Marine Chapters

The Von Aurach Crusade's forces were divided initially into three army group formations, each with a dedicated Imperial Navy battlegroup. Regiments and ships would then be allocated to an army group and the intention was for the army groups to exist until the crusade had been declared over, at which point survivors would be reassigned accordingly.
The initial crusade forces, before The Blackness, were:

Disbandment
Following the devastation that occurred during The Blackness and the formation of the Great Rift, with the authority of Lord Regent Dante of the Blood Angels, the survivors Von Aurach Crusade army groups were disbanded and amalgamated with the 5122nd Army Group, as the most intact formation left. It was at this point the army group received the moniker "1st Sleipner".
Despite this change, many Imperial forces still display a variant of the Crusade army badge of a black horse in a yellow circle, as a badge of honour, which other army badges for the different commands also beign shown in conjunction - 5122nd, Astartes Crusade Company, Franken forces etc
