Napoleon Letizia

Lord General Napoleon Letizia

Lord General Napoleon Letizia is the current commanding officer of the 5122nd Imperial Army Group, leading the millions of soldiers as part of the ongoing Von Aurach Crusade. Seen as a tactical genius by his peers and loved by his men for his inspirational leadership style, Lord General Letizia has proved himself as a worthy member of the Imperial Guard General Staff time and time again.   Early Life   Born the second son of a planetary lord, he was groomed from a young age in the ways of diplomacy, tactics for both the battlefield and the void, leadership and combat. Whilst his father was always busy with affairs of court, Napoleon found a father figure and role model in his lead combat instructor- a decorated Cadian veteran who imbued his very specific qualities of leadership intot he young noble. Rarely seen without a treatises by legends of the Imperial Guard, a future as a military leader was something Napoleon relished. This dream was shattered when his elder brother was the victim of an assassination, forcing a change in the line of sucession.   Devastated by the news of him now being the Letizia heir apparent, Napoleon was then forced to endure formal parties and gatherings where he would come across nobility bearing a plethora of medals and miltary honours, although they had never set foot off world and all thee medals were gaing putting down food riotsor just parading well. Disgusted by the false pretences, Napoleon found ways to utilise his skils in diplomacy and politicking to throw partially veiled insults towards these parents.   He continued to barely hide his contempt for his position cycle upon cycle, much to the displeasure of his father and elder members of the household, up until he discovered a way out of his predicament. In an act of total defiance and uproar amongst the planet's nobility, Napoleon legally and formally traded his inheritence and position as heir apparent, along with all the trappings, for a younger sibling's position as Captain of the elite Letizian Household Guard and what little holdings that came with, namely the commands of thousands of men at arms, armour and the associated moon-barracks. Then, with the help of his former combat instructor, he got in touch with the appropriate adepts and gained his commission in the Imperial Guard, taking with him the 1st Letizian Guard Regiment and an ancient power sword from the family vaults, vowing never to set foot on his homeworld ever again.   Military Service   Since gaining his commission, Napoleon and his Letizian regiment have seen combat across the galaxy, earning his accolades and honours on the front lines. Each enemy he vanquished and each campaign he survived refined his early military training, education and abilities more and more, bringing him to the attention of the upper echelons of the Departmento Munitorum and soon he was brought into the Departmentos own General Staff.   His first campaign as a general, saw him deployed as part of an Imperial task force given the mission to reclaim an Imperial world, lost to traitors and heretical nobility and would introduce him to someone who would beocme a major part of his military life. The world in question was a frozen hive world and the taskforce the then General Letizia was leading was predominantly made up of Valhallan Ice Warrior Regiments, when he discovered the true extent of the rebellion unexpectedly in one of the Imperial Command bunkers as his command squad came under fire from the valhallans themselves, led by a regimental standard bearer. Many died, and Letizia was gravely injured. As it turned out, the standard bearer was a major player in the rebellion and had shed enough Imperial blood to satisfy his patron god and had become embused with warp enhanced strength.   Embued with warp-strength, the standard bearer turned towards Letizia and was going to sacrifice more in the name of the Blood God to ascend to daemonhood, starting with the most senior officer present, and would have succeeded if it wasn't for the timely intervention of a Colour Sergeant named Vitali. Grabbing a nearby meltagun, Vitalis doused the standard bearer in a melta stream, screaming prayers and litanies of hate, swiftly ending the standard bearer's life.   With the immediate threat dealt with, Vitali then helped the wounded officer to his feet to direct the counterattack, not leaving his side for a second, tending to the officers wounds and relaying his orders. For the rest of the conflict, the sight of the noble officer with the veteran valhallan became common across the army. Whenever the Lord General issued an order, Vitali was there, whether relaying it, taking personal journal entires for the officer or even serving him food or drink. Many senior officers also recalled seeing the two of them, in the commander's quarters laughing and talking as friends.   When the campaign ended, for his loyalty and service, the Lord General offically promoted Vitali to his Aide de Camp and personal protector. Since then wherever the Lord General has been sent, the Colour Sergeant is right their next to him with his home regiment providing a standing bodyguard.   The Von Aurach Campaign   Now, in need of a leader of suitable reputation and ability, Georg von Aurach requested Napoleon to be  one of the commanders of the three army groups assigned to his campaign. Taking command of his 5122nd army group, when the Crusade began Lord General Letizia stood on the bridge of the Jean Raszack, Vitali next to him with one target on his mind- the Kulak system
