Magenta Squad
Assigned to Golovko's Gladiators, Magenta squad's rise from relative obscurity as a seemingly rebellious squad within the platoon, to the platoons lead unit.
Structure
Magenta squad is organised like a standard unit within the Kuati Mobile Infantry Regiments, comprising of 1 sergeant leading the unit, supported by a corporal. The rest of the squad are privates and lance corporals.
Culture
Magenta squad have always seemed a little unorthodox or rebellious, mostly due to the appearance of their sergeant whom tends to enter battle without his helmet, but sporting a bandana and a customised photo-visor, and has long since discarded his munitorum-issue chainsword for a sword he claims to have been given by an officer to cover a gambling debt (claims of which remain unproven, much to the Commissariat's ire).
This unorthodoxy has, however, been the units strength and in situations where a more rigidly adherent unit may have crumbled, Magenta have developed the ability to improve and "think on their feet", allowing them to not only survive, but be victorious when Imperial tacticians felt is can't be done.
Assets
To provide flexibility and a degree of coherency with the rest of the Gladiators, as well as the stalwart lasguns, Magenta squad have also being issued with a Vox-pack, missile launcher and grenade launcher.
Following their encounters with a new T'au adversary, Magenta were also sent for additional training under the tutelage of instructores from 1st Kulak Commando Regiment at the Scouting and Reconnaissance training centre on Novo Sanctus, where they honed their battlefield reconnaissance and stealth abilities. Following their return to the frontline, their TO&E has also been amended to see camo-cloaks and magnoculars added to the units holdings and members of the unit can sometimes been seen sporting their grey-green berets, marking them out as graduates of the course.
History
Following their initial deployment under the umbrella of Operation EDDA, Magenta Squad were selected for additional training in stealth and concealment, to allow them to get closer to Tau lines to destroy, disrupt or simply report on force disposition. This gave the squad further instruction in stealth techniques, covert communciation, camouflage and advanced map reading skills and saw supply ships from Novo Sanctus dropping off non-standard munitorum field equipment, such as camouflage cloaks and magnifiers
