2LT James Bearpaw (a.k.a. Jimmy)

Second Lieutenant James "Jimmy" Bearpaw is the current commanding officer for The Roughnecks, having assumed command of the platoon after his mentor and predecessor, Johnny Rico sacrificed himself to enable the platoon to evacuate the planet Mean Green just before an unknown Ordos Xenos Inquisitor arrived, declared Exterminatus, obliterated the planet and placed all the survivors under their personal protection.
Although he was barely a year out of his time of OCS Sanctuary and undergoing his final tutelage period, when 3rd Regiment was one of two regiments sent to Mean Green, following the death of his predecessor he grasped control and got his men off world with minimal casualties, he had earned the respect of the entire platoon in the process. Colonel-Commissar Smith saw this and immediately gave Bearpaw the command of 2nd Platoon, rather than return him to Sanctuary for reassigning to another mentor for a final field assessment.
