Corporal

Corporal is a rank within the Astra Militarum, which is the first stage of a guardsman's promotion through a regiment (sometimes the more junior rank of lance-corporal exists in some regiments) and gives the guardsman/woman first taste of command and having authority.

Appointment

Appointments, whether at company level or on battlefields, are made via nomination from the unit's leader and then eventualyl will be confirmed by the junior officer under whom the unit falls. Obviously, when it comes to battlefield promotions, unless made by an officer, they will be prefixed with "Acting" until the move has been confirmed

Responsibilities

Corporals typically tend to have one of two responsibilities: 1. They may be placed in charge of a heavy weapon battery, which typically has less personnel than a standard Astra Militarum squad 2. They may be appointed as the only corporal of a squad and will act as the unit's second in command after the sergeant, providing them with a confidential sounding board and assistant when it comes to the day to day management of a squad
