Cotton Material in Skeigham | World Anvil

Cotton

Cotton, or Cotton Fibre is a plant-based material gained from the plant with the same name. It is used as a base for fabrics and can be easily fused magically with coloring particles, making it comparatively cheap to create multi-colored clothing.

Cotton blooms up to three times a year with a yellow blooming flower. After a short blooming period, it will produce seeds encapsulated by the useful cotton fibres. It is twisted and spun into cotton threads out of which the fabric is woven.

The plant grows best in warmer climates, several Islands of the Brenari Archipel and the eastern parts of Rathram. This is one of the materials that triggered a colonization effort by both Baradolia and Ethoressi in these regions.

Cotton is counted towards the organic materials in Metalchemistry and although it is decidedly not a base element, it interestingly behaves as a fundamental and not a component in metalchemical processes. At the same time, almost no traits of cotton itself are dominant, with the exception of the low thermal conductivity. This makes it a cheap foundation as well as "filler" material for most processes aiming to create isolation materials.

Southwest Weaving Inc became widely known as the first company to use industrial grade automated looms. Cotton was ideal for the first tests, as it was more robust than other potentially used fibers.
