Personal history

Jennifer Susan Walters was born in Los Angeles, California to Sheriff Morris Banner and Elaine Walters Banner. When she was younger, Ms. Walters wanted to become a dancer, something which her father didn't approve of. One day, while her mother was driving with some friends to see one of her recitals, she was hit by a car and killed, an event that further distanced Jen from her father. Turning her attention to school, Ms. Walters was accepted at Harvard University and also attended UCLA, where she got her law degree summa com laude. While working as a lawyer in Los Angeles, Ms. Walters was visited by her cousin, Dr. Bruce Banner, who she hadn't seen in years. He revealed to her that he had recently become the Hulk, and Ms. Walters invited him home so they could talk about it. On the way there, agents of Nicholas Trask, the crime boss who had killed Ms. Walters' mother years before, shot and seriously wounded her. She had been defending a gangster who had been double-crossed by Mr. Trask, and she had spread the rumor that she had evidence to incriminate Mr. Trask, which led to his retaliation. Dr. Banner fended off the attackers and then broke into a doctor's office to treat her. Realizing Ms. Walters' fatal condition, Dr. Banner gave her a transfusion of his own blood as there were no other supplies available. After she stabilized, he had her admitted to a local hospital. However, this came to the attention of the police, who considered Dr. Banner a suspect in Ms. Walters' attack which forced Dr. Banner to flee. Meanwhile, Mr. Trask's thugs attempted a second hit on Ms. Walters, causing the gamma radiation particles in the transfused blood to activate, turning her skin grey and increasing her size to well over six feet. Dubbed "She-Hulk" by one of Trask's men, Ms. Walters apprehended them for the police to find. From then on, She-Hulk would handle whatever Ms. Walters could not. After her brief solo career, Ms. Walters grew comfortable with her Hulk form. When she was asked by Dr. Janet Van Dyne to join the Ultimates, she gladly accepted and the two became great friends. She temporarily replaced the Thing in the Fantastic Four after helping them apprehend Raft Inmate #862: Phillip Masters/The Puppet Master, and was granted detached membership status with the Ultimates upon joining the Fantastic Four. Soon after joining the Fantastic Four, Ms. Walters was called by the Ultimates to handle the situation of the rogue artificial intelligence known as Ultron which resulted in an explosion that killed the A.I.'s creator, Dr. Henry Pym, and affected Dr. Banner's brain chemistry. The explosion changed Dr. Banner into an uncontrollable, feral beast that soon after decimated Las Vegas, Nevada in a brutal attack. Dr. Banner went into hiding following his attack on Las Vegas and has not been seen since. To distance themselves from the attack, the members of the Ultimates asked Ms. Walters to step down from her position on the team. A year later the Thing returned to the Fantastic Four and Ms. Walters voluntarily left the team to pursue her career as a lawyer resulting in her permanently moving to New York City, New York. There she opened up a firm in Harlem that would specifically deal with crimes of a supernatural nature representing both heroes and villains alike. After the Super Human Registration Act was passed, Ms. Walters agreed to partner with S.H.I.E.L.D. in prosecuting unregistered superhumans. Recently, she has agreed to join Col. Fury's Avengers Initiative in the hopes to find her missing cousin and protect the world from any apparent threats.                                                                                                                                                                                          - S.H.I.E.L.D.
