The Nightmare

The Nightmare is a faceless entity as old as the Great Dream itself. It came into existence from Cottlud himself. It feeds on misfortune, despair, and destruction, and its hunger can never be sated.

Despite its immense power, it prefers to act through its minions. Both the Nightmare and its most powerful servants have created their own minions - demons - to do their bidding. The Nightmare is capable of movement through space, though it moves relatively slowly. Instead it reaches out through space with tendrils of its dark energy, corrupting everything in their path. Its tendrils are capable of navigating the planar pathways and in theory could reach anywhere within the Great Dream, given sufficient time.

The Nightmare has no discernable identity, personality, or gender. Such concepts simply cannot be applied to an entity of its nature; scholarly consensus is that The Nightmare is more a force of nature or a facet of reality itself rather than a conscientious entity.
