Hekmat the Wise (formerly), Master of Fate (formerly), Hekmat the Betrayer

Origin

Hekmat the Wise was the first and most powerful of Cottlud's children. It is said that all things and mortal beings are connected with threads of destiny, leaving the past threads in their wake and being pulled forward by their future fate. Granted with the power to see these threads, Hekmat was to maintain this order. For ages, Hekmat was rightfully the voice of wisdom and reason among the Ezhdar Dirin until the day of The Worldbreach.

Fall

When the powers unleashed by Sinista tore through the veils separating planar realms, it also inevitably drew the Nightmare. It fed on the countless deaths, grew stronger, and began to hunger for more. Amidst the raging destruction, the Ezhdar Dírin attempted to contain the cataclysm and stop the Nightmare from consuming more. While they succeeded and fought the Nightmare off, it it left a part of itself within Hekmat and began corrupting the Primordial from within.

For many years Hekmat fought the Nightmare growing within him, but eventually succumbed to its corruption. Heeding the insidious whispers of the Nightmare, he traced threads of destiny left in the wake of the Worldbreach and they led him through the planar pathways to Merian, where the Erthenshoon found refuge.

Embracing the Nightmare

The planet could not contain his immense primordial form, but Hekmat created an army of ferocious demons from the darkness within him and set them upon the unsuspecting Erthenshoon. His roar shattered walls and ground of their city, and his demons scaled the ruins and rubble, slaughtering thousands and devouring their essence. This soothed the dark hunger in him. It fed the Nightmare, and its whispers became more persistent as it began waking up from its slumber in the ruined space of Marol.

The eyes of the Ezhdar Dírin fell upon the destruction and they saw that he was lost to them. They descended upon Hekmat and he fled back to Marol. There he ambushed the pursuing Ezhdar Dírin. They overwhelmed Hekmat with their combined power and threw him into the swirling vortex of Nightmare - but with his last breath he dragged Kashidis into the Nightmare with him.
