The Burnings Myth in The Shard of Elan | World Anvil

The Burnings

The myth of the Burnings is a curious phenomenon, in that both Chrenadan and Ryuven cultures offer a parallel account, an unlikely coincidence between two different worlds.   In the mythical retellings in Chrenada , the Burnings came about when two warring dragons destroyed the sky with fire.   In the mythical retelling of the Ai , it was a single dragon which fired the sky.   Both cultures cite a representative constellation, two sets of six stars in the Chrenadan sky and one set of twelve in the Ryuven. The constellations, while in different skies, are remarkably similar in shape.   Historians debate the actual nature of the Burnings, or whether they took place at all. The story is primarily of interest as a sociological touchstone and as a curiosity due to its similar representation in Ai myth.
