Mage Healing Amulets Item in The Shard of Elan | World Anvil

Mage Healing Amulets

Mage healing was developed after observing the magical healing of the Ryuven, though the disparity in Ryuven and human magic has made it look quite different.   Mage healing amulets are infused over months with energy which, once activated by a mage, can be directed into an injury. This energy accelerates the body's natural healing process, assisting in closing wounds or knitting bone. This acceleration of natural processes will take a toll on the subject, who will be fatigued afterward, but the exhaustion is worth saving a life.   Mage healing is not useful for all injuries. The burst of energy to fuel natural processes does not discriminate, so applying an amulet to an uncleaned wound would increase infection, or applying an amulet to contusion would increase natural swelling and induce more pain and damage. An amulet put to an unset bone would assist the bone to heal while deformed. Additionally, their long production time and the necessity of a trained mage to activate an amulet means they are not readily used in everyday scenarios.   Because mage healing amulets are so time-consuming and expensive to make, their use is nominally restricted; their manufacture is tracked and most are kept for military use, while others are sold for emergencies.
