Luenda

The battle of Luenda was a massive conflict between Chrenadan and Ryuven Ai forces. Luenda was a tragedy which left thousands dead and whole communities savaged.
The cycle of war between Chrenada  and the Ryuven Ai is years of raids, building to a crescendo, and then a massive invasion of Ryuven forces intending to overwhelm a concerted defense by the human Chrenadan military. These climatic battles are devastating to both sides and conflict resumes again as smaller, scattered raids.
Mage Ewan Hazelrig was voted to the position of White Mage in the bloody days just before Luenda, and it is from that battle that he brought home an orphaned boy called Tam. While Mage Hazelrig had spoken against slavery in previous debates, arguing for indentured servitude and milder responses to the revolts, he took Tam as a servant in his own home. As there were so many displaced survivors after the battle, this was a common practice, and no one realized Mage Hazelrig had acted for another purpose.
