Antanaska

A Brief History of the 9th Century

Antanaska is a North Eastern Region of Shaar . It is primarily a cold and snowy region with a mountainside that spans from the center of it to the furthest Northern regions of the planet, and even entering the Forgotten Territories . The Ethereal Sea is in the southernmost area of Antanaska which borders the Minsinonappolis mountain range. Governmental bodies in this region rely greatly on the trade routes to deliver goods to their civilizations that need resources existing outside their own. The need for trade routes was dire as the climate has gotten significantly colder in the last few centuries, prohibiting growth of the crops in the land. Bringing together communities to make such trade routes brought peace and prosperity to the people who formed a region wide alliance with the sentient and cooperative humanoids involved. Trade is the route of success through the harsh climate, which in turn summoned new adversaries to the region such as: frost giants, remorhaz, winter wolves, etc. Not only did trade open up an alliance for trade but also for skills. Many skilled swordsman and witchcraft alike has been used to combat such climate change with the predatory bestiary at large. The need for warmer homes and clothing to wear as the temperature has dropped. Many builders, tailors and fishermen moved to the area looking for work. All seemed well in the land of Antanaska until a terrible dry season and magically created drought covered the majority of the region, putting stress on its inhabitants. Prosperity in the region was withering and resources become scarce, rendering the trade routes comparatively useless to how they were deemed before. With materials needed to survive such as food and water being as hard to stock as they were, a great war broke out (War of the Seven Kingdoms ). The war left families in shambles and forced smaller civilizations to concede, being absorbed by larger ones. This put a strain on the remaining people from the war living here, allowing for the remaining two kings to retain their wealth and power. This lead to the remaining kings Todex Everdeen  and Irictus to rise and become known for their tyranny. During the reign of the two kings, dragons came to Antanaska causing havoc and chaos. Shortly after the arrival of the dragons during the chaos a new king was named. Dracarus Everdeen was to take @Todspot as king of Azareh. Much of the attention in the war was pointed at the dragons in the region, burning and raising cities without mercy. Several important oppositions to the dragons took arms against them. During a culminating battle between a black dragon named Itziritzik Noc Notrilliud, Grand Dragon of the Thorn Kingdom and local frost giant legend Fenriktun, Frost Giant Legend of the Ethereal Sea, the giant beheaded the dragon and drank its blood. Receiving word of the dragons death, the rest of the dragons fled the area and were never to be seen again. Antanaska had a decade of peace to settle down and although the war was over, the dead could not be forgotten. This could be taken in a very literal sense, as a powerful lich named Azrobah who was in need of dead bodies amassed and army from the corpses. The lich's thralls were released which brought a terrible plague to the land. These bodies were infected from the Nyxiliam Fungus upon revival of the Lich which then began to pass the plague as the army conquered territory and lives. The terrible pandemic continues to spread itself throughout the majority of Antanaska and has been a leading cause of death within the region.
