The Left Hand of Arthur that Cannot be Seen, Gawain Coeling Le Fay

Physical Description

Special abilities

Users can manipulate stars, self-luminous celestial bodies consisting of super-heated gas held together by their gravity in which the outflow of energy balances the energy generated by nuclear reactions in the interior to the surface, and the inward-directed gravitational forces are balanced by the outward-directed gas and radiation pressures. There are four primary techniques that Gawain has employed with this gift; Star Empowerment, where Gawain massively amps his own physical, mental, spiritual, and magical capabilities by a magnitude of ten, Star Healing, where Gawain can mend his body down to the cellular level to withstand the power of this ability, Star Physiology, where Gawain can alter his body structure so that he becomes a star itself, and Star Creation / Star Destruction, which allows Gawain to create and destroy miniature stars when needed.
The only trade-offs of such immense power are that 1) Gawain must be in the presence of a star, something easily ignored once he learned how to create stars, and 2) the strain on the body in a passive sense, as this power is immense and cannot be held by just anyone. The fact Gawain was born with this Inherited Magical Technique means he is strong enough to withstand it, his healing factor acting as a way to constantly heal and maintain his physical body.
  • Healing Factor
The users can Heal themselves and restore biotic organisms to their optimal health, curing damaged or withered organisms, wounds, broken bones, low vitality, and diseases/poisoning. Though the user may potentially heal any form of bodily damage, the patient must be alive, even if hanging by a thin thread, in order to be healed; once the patient has died, it would transcend healing and would require resurrection instead. Users with this ability either or can transform into a satyr or faun: a half-human - half-goat (from the head to the waist being the human half, but with the addition of goat horns) manifestation of forest and animal spirits which would help or hinder humans at whim.
Fauns and satyrs were originally quite different creatures: whereas fauns are half-man and half-goat, satyrs originally were depicted as stocky, hairy, ugly dwarfs or woodwoses with the ears and tails of horses or asses. In earlier art, they were portrayed as quite ugly, though later they became more youthful and graceful. Satyrs also were more woman-loving than fauns, and fauns were rather foolish whereas satyrs had more knowledge.

Apparel & Accessories

  • The Green Sash; A magical sash gifted to Gawain from his mother which protects him from any danger. Gawain does not wear the sash but instead it adorns his sword Galatine as a reminder to never fear battle or death.

Specialized Equipment

Holy Sword Galatine & the Shield of Maccabee

Sir Gawain's primary choice of weapon was the massive great sword known as Galatine, which could never be damaged or nicked. The weapon was crafted by the smith Eigor and enchanted by Gawain himself. The Shield of Maccabee was a circular shield capable of disbursing incoming kinetic energy into potential energy for Gawain, allowing him to maintain his ground and stand even when attacked by far stronger opponents.

The Bleeding Edge Lance & Gawain's Great Bow

A magical spear from the planet Logres, any being of flesh and blood cut by this weapon will never stop bleeding for the rest of their days until they die. Using duplication magic, Gawain uses phony Bleeding Lances as arrows for his great bow. The phony lances dissipate on contact but still carry the initial devastating attack of the original. When a storm of such arrows rains down on an enemy force, victory is all but assured. The bow is forged from Ýdalirian Timber bearing the colors of the Le Fay lineage, blue, gold, and red.

Stone of Giramphiel & The Lit Merveile

The Stone of Giramphiel is a magic rock enchantment that provides high resistance to Magical fire so long as he is in possession of it. It also clouded his Path, making it difficult for Diviners to gather information about him such as his whereabouts and condition. The Lit Merveile was a magical bed Gawain obtained on one of his crusades. It is metaphysically bound to his soul, when summoned it allows him to slumber within it immune to all forms of damage. However, once asleep, he cannot wake himself up. Another will need to enter his mind to free him. For this drawback, it is only used as a desperate last-ditch effort.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Prince Gawain was the 7th child of Queen Morgause and King-Consort Loth. He was expelled from his household by his Lord Father as a young man for his ambitious nature, finding purpose among the Knights of King Arthur. He trained and studied with The Demon Lancelot, Beholder of the Word Legendary , and the two were bound as battle brothers, becoming the Right and Left Hands of King Arthur himself. Gawain served the Realms nobly and for his valor and efforts was elected by the Round Table to succeed Arthur after his death.

Social

Reign

Of Sir Gawain & the Green Knight

During a celebration in Gawain's youth at Camelot, the Round Table was set into an uproar by the arrival of a being composed of chiseled emerald stone; Bertilak, the Green Knight. He challenged any and all of Arthur's knights to a game, one of the mortal blows. Whoever dealt him a wound would have the same wound returned to him in the future. Young Gawain, eager to make a mark on the annals of history, jumped first to take part in the game. Gawain took a blade and severed the knight's head in one blow, expecting to fall over dead. Instead, Bertilak retrieved his head and vanished, reminding Gawain to uphold his vow when the time came.
Serval years later, Sir Gawain led an expedition into a hostile Realm with his son, Sir Beaudous, when Bertilak returned to challenge Gawain. And he fled, fearing the Knights' powers and unknown abilities, much to his own and his son's shame. When his Queen Mother, Morgause, heard of this, she sent for a green sash, one that guaranteed absolution from all harm when the user wore it. When Bertilak pursued Gawain a second time in the Floating Jungles of U'Dier, Gawain stood his ground to fight, but the Green Knight refused to face him and departed.
Sir Beaudous of the Davidic Lineage, Son of King Gawain
Gawain celebrated his victory and with the sash obtained great glory on his crusades. One evening he took a maiden to bed, but when she went to remove the sash he desperately moved to keep it close to him, exposing his cowardice for his own eyes to see. He had cheated this honorable Bertilak and resigned himself to a life of desperation for a magical artifact. Gawain went to face the Green Knight to obtain his honor and make good on his word.
Sir Bertilak resided within a mobile fortress, Castle Hutton, where Gawain traveled with only his brother-in-arms, Sir Lancelot, and his son, Sir Beaudous, to bear witness. Bertilak patiently waited for the lord's arrival and Gawain removed the green sash. Bertilak deals Gawain a great wound on the head but does not kill him. He deems Gawain is not entirely without honor and his life is worth preserving.

Of the Betrayal of Mordred and the Round Table Council Elect

Gawain had a half-brother, Mordred le Fay, sired by an unknown father once while his lord father was away for years during the Great War. The man was dark and gloomy, but he and Gawain got along just fine, Gawain counted him among his true brothers. This is why when word of his Black Legion's betrayal reached him, he refused to believe it. Gawain assembled his sons Henec the Skillful, Gingalain the Great, the Scion Udres, and Lioniaus the Lion-Hearted, to ride forward and intercept his brother.
Gawain was late to Fagrland, the Realm that served as the grave for his cousins Ywain, Rhun, and Pasgen. Young Elffin was rushed back to The House of Rhygoed and Rhiwallon was left in a mentally handicapped state of being. That is to say nothing of their Knights and soldiers, the carnage that was left in Mordred's wake spoke of a rabid dog who had been left off his leash. His little brother was long gone.
The Last Stand is where Mordred encountered his father, King Arthur, and did a fatal battle with him, killing the golden dragon. Lancelot arrived first to find Arthur's body and mourned the death of his friend. They sent for Arthur to be buried but amassed their forces to pursue the wounded Mordred back to his keep in Erkwood, a shadow Realm guarded by a Hýdra. Gawain and Lancelot shattered the Black Legion, all traitors were put to the sword, and Mordred was killed by Lancelot. His young sons would have shared the same fate, spared only by Gawain's might, the son is not to bear his father's sins.
The Round Table, fractured and shattered, holds a council to decide who will be the next Pendragon. All of Arthur's sons are dead and Merlin has hidden his daughters, but he himself is nowhere to be found, possibly dead. Arthur's sister is confirmed to have been killed, without producing an heir. Mordred's sons are briefly discussed, but Lancelot, among others, refuses to serve a traitor's son. Thus the conversation turns to the children of the Le Fay Dynasty, and Gawain is put forward. His grandmother bore Arthur, he is a respected and honorable Round Table Knight, and he has the power and strength to lead the Order.
King Gawain Pendragon's first order of business was to address the matter of Mordred's sons. While some elected to leave the boys alone, others wanted more blood for the death of Arthur. Gawain had the older brother, Melehan, dispatched to a distant outpost in Alfheim, magically bound in service to some Light Elf King to repent for aiding his father, spared from a brutal death by Lancelot. The other, Medraut, was much younger, and his affairs were handled privately and personally by Gawain himself. The boy has quickly whisked away to an Outer Realm, Sarpedon, ruled by the Kyōmori Lineage, the Blood of Gorgon Queen Medusa. Empress Rombraxo was personally entrusted with the boy, with instructions to conceal his identity and location. Gawain imparted the Mawdread colossal axe unto the boy, reminding him that circumstances do not define a man, but rather it is what he does in said circumstances that do.
