Fomhar

The breadbasket of the island country is the city of Fomhar, situated to the north and surrounded by rather more flat land than Urraim and Sisceal boast. Of the three cities, it has been the most aggressive by far, to the point of cutting Siochain and Urraim off from trade entirely several times through the years and forcing them to spend money importing food from other places.   Fomhar is ruled by Earl Vicari, a merchant who ruthlessly cut his way through the ranks to end up at the top of the city’s structure of power. He has turned the city into a Theocracy, enforcing the worship of Bane, god of tyranny and war. While most of the farmers out in the far-flung territories Fomar occupies have very little to do with the politics of the city, few dare oppose Vicari’s edicts for fear he will find out. Vicari likes to make examples of people who speak out against his rule and is known to be a vicious and cruel man.   Sorcerers are outlawed, and there are a precious few wizards living in the city (mostly those who serve the military). Magic in general is viewed with suspicion and concern, as Earl Vicari sees it as a constant threat to his rulership.

Demographics

Fomhar is a mix of races, much as Urraim is. Though Fomhar's population is more human than anything. Other races are welcomed for the most part, though half-orcs and tieflings may face judgment here.   The city possesses several classes of folk--the nobility (including Earl Vicari himself), the mercantile class, and the commoners. The nobility inhabit the northern portion of the city (which is also the highest portion since Fomhar is on a hill).

Government

Earl Vicari has turned the city into a theocracy, forcing the worship of Bane. Arcane magic is outlawed and viewed with extreme suspicion by those in the city governance since they believe it to be almost heresy.

Defences

Fomhar did have thick walls and reasonable defenses, though the recent goblin invasion has destroyed some of those walls in the mercantile and common quarters of the city.

Industry & Trade

Fomhar is the breadbasket of the island. The areas around it are the richest in arable land, and as such it is responsible for growing the vast majority of produce on the island. They export large amounts of this produce and use it to enforce their freedom as a city-state because if they were to cease trade with Urraim or Siochain it would cause issues in being able to feed other mouths.

Guilds and Factions

The Faithful are the arm of the church that enforce the laws in the city. They do so without mercy most of the time, making them a feared force amongst the common folk.
