Urraim
Once the capital city, Urraim boasts the largest port on the island and has the most diverse population. It is a true melting pot of cultures and peoples, and while there are those who will look askance at certain races, for the most part it is a relatively accepting community.
Since the death of the monarch, Urraim has been ruled by a city council made up of the heads of noble families who view themselves as the rightful guardians of the realm. There are those who disagree with this notion, but none of them have the political or military clout to dispute it. The council claims it continues to search for the rightful heir to the throne, but no motion has been made in the years since the death of the royalty. Up until recently when it has been investigating claims of several individuals on the throne.
Since it is the largest of the three major cities on the island and the primary means through which trade flows, Urraim provides the most diverse offerings to those seeking special or interesting items. It also is home to a rather modest magical college currently run by a man named Nar’Suun, about which very little is known beyond the fact that he is an elf and has a close relationship with the city council.
Demographics
Urraim's population is comprised of many races with no specific one dominating the social ladder. Given that it is one of the city-states, Urraim plays host to many of the older families whose lineage traces back to before the collapse of the monarchy a decade ago.
Government
The city was governed by a council until recently when King Secis ascended to the throne. He has since become the ultimate say in what exactly happens. Secis's rule has been with an iron fist, and he has imposed curfews and taxes that are punitive to the locals, creating an atmosphere of severe unrest.
Defences
Urraim has high walls with murder holes around the heavy gates. There are also portcullises over the main entry and egress points of the city, allowing them to close themselves off from the rest of the island if necessary.
Industry & Trade
Urraim itself produces artisan goods rather than raw materials. It hosts concentrations of fine crafters and skilled tradesmen (and women). It hosts trade from across the sea and ships out both raw materials and trade goods through its port. While the port is a little smaller than Stagreach, it is not small.
Infrastructure
Given that it was the capital city, Urraim is very well-built and boasts state of the art sewers and drainage. It also has many beautiful gardens and market squares. The city itself has a high wall surrounding the majority of it with the sea flanking it on the opposite side, though outside city walls there are farms associated with the community.
Architecture
Urraim is mostly stone with wood accents. The stone buildings are solid and sturdy and made well--even those in the poorer quarters of the city. The walls, also, are thick and rugged, designed to repel attackers should there be a need.
In the center of the city is the castle, which is surrounded by a second wall. It stands on a hill and is viewable from all parts of Urraim. Also, it cuts a fine silhouette from a distance when seen on approach.
Geography
Urraim is located on the coast beside the water besides the broad, deep forests of the island. Outside it is some farmland, though nowhere near as much as exists outside Fomhar.
Natural Resources
With access to the sea, Urraim has vast quantities of fresh fish and seafood. They also are close to the forest, which allows for hunting in the rich woods around the area.
