Siochain
Built into the side of one of the mountains, Siochain is the primary source of stone and metals to the island. Urraim would have cut trade off long ago were that not the case, since most of Urraim’s building materials come from that region.
Ruled by Countess Kensa, one of the few landed nobles left after the civil war, it is a mostly peaceful city and tries to avoid the unpleasantness of the war as much as possible by encouraging lines of trade and putting pressure on the other cities through means of trade rather than military might.
The city’s position in the mountains also makes it very difficult to get into, and a prolonged siege would result in failure due to the city’s extensive network of caves through which it could transport food and its mages and clerics who could create food if necessary. Though it would be a hardship.
Demographics
Siochain has a similar blend of races to Urraim . The noble class is rather small, though it is comprised of some of the oldest families on the island. Several of the old families retreated there when the monarchy fell because Countess Kensa de Gwydion represented a steady hand in uncertain times.
Government
Countess Kensa de Gwydion rules with a firm but fair hand. She ensures justice is done and does her very best to take care of her people. She is an intelligent and cunning woman who has retained her position though the civil war and the collapse of the society they knew. With her is the city council who helps her make decisions and guide her, though she is the ultimate authority.
Defences
Being that Siochain is part of the mountain, mounting an attack would be excessively difficult. The best one could hope for would be to lay siege, but even that would be dubiously successful given the amount of magic present in the city.
Industry & Trade
Siochain does brisk trade in stonework from its many quarries as well as producing some of the best artisanal goods in the region.
Infrastructure
Siochain is built into the side of a mountain and cascades down the mountain face. They have sewers and other such things below the city, but all of them are closed off to prevent access from the outside world. There is also an extensive network of caves that lead into and out of the city in all directions. They are a labyrinth for anyone unfamiliar and would be likely death for those without a map or a very good memory.
