Seori Stones

A Seori Stone is a type of pure, elemental stone found on the surface of Seori. Although they can range widely in texture and color, most true Seori Stones are around the size of a marble, and possess a faintly shimmering appearance, even when found in the darkest of places.   The stones themselves can be polished and shaped into jewelry or other types of adornments, but cannot be cut - once broken open, the magic that surrounds the stone will fade within the hour. Artisans who specialize in the crafting of art from these stones are known to consider a broken stone equivalent to sixteen years of misfortune.   The exact origin of the Stones are unknown; until their association with Siri, the stones were all but unknown, with no known magical properties. It is possible that they only developed these properties after being touched by the Spirit of Seori.   The earliest recorded account of a Seori Stone comes from the records of Boadicea, the Queen of the Alvan Empire of the Serpent’s Spine. In her telling, a green-tinted stone was gifted to her by a creature of the forest, who she befriended in her youth. When worn around her neck, the Stone granted the young queen the ability to travel long distances by tree, and to communicate directly with Siri.   Subsequent records from Lyuben Honorheart of Val Farum, and Halvar, High Mage of Braka, indicate that all those in possession of a Stone may use it to communicate with the wielders of any other stone, simply by willing the message to specific individuals.   Following Ambition’s betrayal and subsequent capture, the early members of the Sirian Watch ascribed a saying to the Stones: “All roads lead to the Crossroads.”   Historians now believe it likely that Seori Stones create visual pathways between Travel Trees, only visible to wielders of the Stones, although this has not been confirmed by any members of the Watch.
