Old Fygrian

Old Fygrian was the language of the Fygrian Empire. Although functionally dead today, it remains relevant as the root of the modern Fyren dialects. A multitude of dark texts exist in this language that have never been translated, so it is often spoken by scholars of these dark arts, although few would admit to it in polite company. Many wild monsters -- the descendants of the victims of Ambition in Fygria -- still speak Old Fygrian, or some bastardization of it. There remains a fierce academic debate over whether Old Fygrian or High Brakan was the original language of humans. While it is generally agreed that Fygria is older than Braka, and many scholars even believe that Braka began as a Fygrian colony, debate rages as to whether Braka's language was influenced by the elves and dwarves of the region, or whether Braka preserved the original language when Ambition seized and ruled Fygria twisting its residents and their language.
