Change
The god of Change, named Orrick by the Alvans, was one of the most active of the The Original Ten gods. Despite being associated with universal law, they took a keen interest in the workings of mortals, calling them the greatest changers in the world.
Their twin was the god of Inevitability, called Galadar. Despite Galadar being shunned by the other gods and mortals, Orrick maintained a close relationship with them.
Orrick's avatar, the being that would come to bear the name as Orrick Threebags, was afforded far more independence than the avatars of other gods. The god of Change saw their realtionship as more of a partnership than that of a puppet and puppeteer.
Orrick was the first god to realize the threat posed by the Óvættrs. Understanding that outright war would lead to the death of the gods, they took drastic action. Orrick sacrificed their own sentience and distributed their power to mortals in the form of magic. Thus, they were the first god to die, but in doing so, gave mortals a powerful weapon in what was to become a battle for the continuation of the world.
A consequence of the god of Change's sacrifice was that Orrick Threebags was given total freedom, sustained by the distributed power of the dead god.
