Essryl Demera
Essryl - also known as Mistress Demera - is a half Illisyr, half succubus shaper. She's from the Shadowfire clan, a minor clan which split off from the Demonclaw clan. She is tall with glistening obsidian skin and has a tail with a slightly widened tip. Her eyes were originally red but she changed them to glowing electric purple-blue in order to look less demonic. She has a keen sense of smell.
Essryl works for the dragon Resvarygrath and is loyal to him because he defeated her in single combat by a hair's breadth. She is responsible for training the girls captured during Resvarygrath's raids, such as the attack on Mellesyn. These captives all wear enchanted gold collars.
She enjoys sculpting and is self-taught - she found it difficult at first. She carves ten inch tall statuettes of women who have been captured and keeps them in a special room to remind herself what they all looked like.
She is part of clan Shadowfire, and not a minor member of the clan. There are precisely five higher-ranking members of her clan, and those include the heads of the three castes and the matriarch herself.
Rather than following one goddess, Essryl is a devotee of Nature's Court as a whole and bears all their blessings: skill at arms, magic, stealth, and resilience. Her shaper abilities also make her a skilled healer. To represent her devotion to the whole of Nature's Court, she carries a holy symbol consisting of a broad circle of gold with four gems set into it - a sapphire set into the top, a ruby in the bottom, a topaz on the right, and a diamond on the left. This symbol is capable of transforming into a glowing sword imbued with mana.
She has made a pilgrimage to the World Tree.
She is more attracted to women than men.

After Ruethwyn rescued the captives from Resvarygrath, Essryl was given a post as guest instructor at Tyrness Academy. She is living in the manor given to Ruethwyn, where she has been given most of the basement to do with as she pleases.
