Split of the Military

The Split of the Military, also known in history as simply 'The Schism', was the defining skirmish the led to the permanent separation of the Kumeza Tran, currently known as the Daji, from the main force of the military of Yzel.

The Conflict

Prelude

Originally, the Kumeza Tran was a force akin to a border patrol who worked along the northern area of Yzel. Their main task was to monitor the border between Yzel and Eoion, particularly in case any of the Ilyannoi came too close or crossed over.   As they were mainly away from the capital, and thus the central power of the military, the Kumeza Tran developed their own power structure and had slowly begun acting more and more independently over the years. When the Sicru Battles began, the ruler of Yzel called them to fight on the south-eastern front, but the leader of the Kumeza Tran, Ezray Lohdan, refused.   This led to the Yzelian military splitting and some remaining on the war front while the rest went to confront Lohdan for treason. His refusal to obey orders was seen as the last straw of an increasingly defiant Kumeza Tran.

The Engagement

When the two armies clashed, the Kumeza Tran had an advantage as they were used to fighting in the northern areas. Lohdan fought against one of the greatest minds of the Yzelian military, General Gehn Sei. Still, Lohdan used the people who had come to rely on the Kumeza Tran for assistance. This turned public sentiment against Sei and the main government of Yzel. As the two sides came to a stalemate, Lohdan and Sei met to come to an agreement that would benefit both sides and allow them to win against the forces of the Eoion empire. The result was a split in the military, with the Kumeza Tran becoming a separate, independent force known as the Daji and the Yzelian military redistributing their funding.
