Demonic Scarring

Those who are inflicted with the scars slowly become posessed by demons. The first person sighted with this affliction was Wallace, one of the survivors from the world shift event. This is not to be confused with "The Mark".
The scarring is given to the person through the means of the demon torturing them until near death or death, the demon then fills the wounds with a negative energy that solidifies into an obsidian like scar rebirthing the person into a Scarred Servitor.
Following the rebirth demons use their powers to inflict pain upon the subject through the scars, with every subject having a pain threshold until they ebrace and welcome the pain. Those that show exceptional results are granted additonal powers and mutations from the demons. The powers and mutations gained could be things like: wings, claws, horns, and supernatural spell casting (darkness, dimension door, etc.).
Once the afflicted are in service of the demons they join the Legion of Scars by performing the Ritual of Pain. They then start to advance through the ranks by securing objectives for the demon invasion on Seiderheim. There is even rumor of some of the higher ranking members having the ability to blend in with regular folk. This is to do with higher ranking members being provided access to powerful demonic magics.
Recent events show an increase in the amount of people that have been inflicted with these scars; following this, a sect of clerics at the Parish of the Golden Scar has managed to find a way to partially cure the affliction. They use the Golden Scar Treatment to replace the demonic scars with a celestial variant.
