Hal Varti

Hal Varti is the Desert heart of Pardisio. The natives who roam the black sands are the nomadic Grey Orcs, who live in shamanistic Caravans. Storm clouds keep the light dim day and night. Under the obsidian desert is a vast underdark where the Grey Orcs roam. Not many other races reside there aside from them as the air is quite toxic without some sort of breathing ventilation. The ruler of the Grey Orcs is the Witch Queen Kakala. Rumored to be a lich in her advanced age, Kakala sees over the Nomads in the Capitol, Valla alongside her twin sister Valaka. Valla itself is a Desert Sinkhole where the surface meets Underdark. It is a central location for barter, pleasure, and thievery.
Fashion: Clothing is made of fine breathable silk and linen.

Culture

To advance one's self is about the best thing one can do in the Hal Varti. Everyone is looking to see whose head they have to push down so they can climb further up the mountain of status. This means to be bold while being careful. Stepping on too many people may lead to you falling all the way down the hypothetical mountain. Sometimes to one's death.
The Hal Varti is a cut throat society, but the people have reasons and ambitions that can be used to have them point their knife at someone else.

Public Agenda

The largest push that the Halvarti makes in terms of its public appearance is that of an area where the races out Scanagliare and the Doukutsu can trade valuables in a place of mutual gain. With that in mind, it becomes a location where anyone can find anything, be it legal in one's home country or not.

Education

Kragrak College stands on the precipice of the Hal Varti and Drac Lichdom.
Those who come to study as Kragrak are of those who wish to observe and learn about the weather patterns and geography of the Hal Varti, those who wish to know about the Doukutsu and have access to the limited history that has been learned, and those who wish to practice necromancy.   Researchers have found the Hal Varti the most peaceful place to learn about the Doukutsu. It's history, it's founding, and it's people all have a shroud of mystery to them that not many of its denizens are willing to talk about. Kragrak has accumulated the larges library of Doukutsu history and information anywhere on the surface of the material plane.    Meteorologists study the unique terrain and weather of the Hal Varti. They observe how the pyroclastic clouds and ash move and what happens in those areas in hopes to come across unique discoveries.   Its specialty over other colleges is its acceptance of necromancy into the curriculum. Grey Orcs see life as something that can be manipulated and preserved if possible, as such, having necromantic studies teach medicine, life preservation, manipulation of the dead, and laying undead to rest permenantly. It is normally the goal of a Necromancer to achieve lichdom if not a better option that preserves the body in a better state.

Major Exports
While traditionally a desert is a barren wasteland, the very sand one walks on in the Hal Varti desert is worth something to alchemists and mages around the world. The black sands act as a powerful conduit for magics pertaining to electricity, fire, darkness, earth, and necrotics.
Purifying and manufacturing the sand creates further potential. Steel Sand is a Glass that holds many magical properties. Kagglas is a golden/black glass that fuels many wands and staff. It can also be melded with Mithril to create Dorinsroc.
Aditionally many silks and fabrics are weaved in the Hal Varti. Viikan Death Beetle silk, when woven, provides clean air regardless of weather or water.
Lastly are the trade goods that come from the Doukutsu. Being one of the few "peaceful" locations to trade with the underground races, one can find many oddities unknown to the surface world.
Major Imports
The biggest need for the people Hal Varti is Food. The farms from the north and abundant wilds to the south provide far cheaper crops and food than anything that could be grown short of livestock lizards.
Being a trade hub, many individuals bring their exotic goods from the continent of Fartho and beyond to trade with the underground races.
