S26. Conyberry and Xanth Report

General Summary

The adventurers took care of business at the Shrine (burying re-dead friends, or burning them on a pyre), then they headed to Conyberry and met with Xanth, who told them of the nefarious activities of the half-orc spellcasters that could also shape-shift into Boars. He told them they were based in a woodland manse in the Wood, and that there were probably 5 or 6 of them. And also, that they performed rituals on a stone topped hill not much further to the north. And from there they perform sacrifices and rituals to their fell god, Talos, summoning storms and lighting, and once summoning the giant pet of Talos itself, Gorthok, the Thunder Boar.
The party asked Xanth to check on the Logger's Camp while they moved on the Manse. But before heading into the wood, they detoured to Big Al's ranch to drop off the gold bell in his safekeeping so as not to have to haul it around everywhere.
Then they entered the wood and eventually found the manse by afternoon. They decided to wait until dark to explore, and then just before dawn to move in on the offensive.
The took out a couple of boars on the north side of the house and then entered through a battered door into the kitchen. They checked the pantry (nothing to eat there, sorry Kanenas), and then the dining hall, where they were attacked by 6 twig critters. They dispatched them easily and continued to explore. Beyond the dining hall they opened a door and found a courtyard with a will in the middle overgrown with horrid looking vines.
They also heard orc voices from the south, Ozus understanding some of it...seems they are laughing and yelling about battle plans and taking out a palisade or some such.
Kally headed up some stairs and nearly fell through some steps that were weakened on purpose to make a trap. Wood spikes below the stairs. She and Torgan get up to the second floor and prepare to make ranged attacks out the upper floor windows as Ozus calls out the orcs with a distress call in orcish.
"Help, I've been shot. They are down here"
Will they be fooled? Or will Ozus' Jersey accent betray him. (haha)
The orcs start running out of the room into the courtyard...and we end tonight at that moment...
