Elf Species in Saradon | World Anvil

Elf

Elves are a goblinoid race of kith more closely related to humans than any other. The species share a striking amount of physical similarities, though those of elvish race tend to display narrower chins and jawlines, a less pronounced brow ridge, and slightly taller, slimmer statures than their human counterparts. The most notable differentiation, of course, is the elongated and pointed structure of the cartilage comprising their outer ears.   Ivskia is the modern homeland of elvish society and, so far as written history can tell, has been since the very dawn of their civilization. No true elvish societies existed outside of the continent and the many islands counted to belong to its domain until recently, though even then these are almost entirely trading ports or colonies of the Ejantaseran Empire.   The nominer of elf is as exonym given to the species by Eletherosians. Common endonyms for the species include aśŧirik/baźdrigi ("high people") in Vosqod or Odainish respectively, feyatren ("people of the trees") in Kashtleet, and qunxaf ("the first") in Akahral. Other elven languages tend to lack terminology for themselves in specific, referring to their own kind by simple monikers such as "the people" and distinguishing other species as outliers.

Gender Ideals

As with most forms of kith, elves do not share a single ideal with regard to gender roles across their cultures, though do seem to be tended towards matriarchal societal structures as opposed to the patriarchal structuring of most men and orc civilizations. It is as of yet unknown whether this difference is inherent or simply a result of cultural trends.
