Glow Torch

Glow torches are small devices that use the Glow of the user to create a bright light. They're handy for a quick, safe light source.

Utility

Glow torches work by absorbing Glow from the user's hand, which lights up a piece of kaalite inside of the torch. The light is amplified through a lens at the end of the Glow torch, creating a strong beam of light. They are most useful for a convenient, short-term light source that does not pose any fire hazard.

They aren't great for long-term light, as they require a constant input of Glow in order to work. This also means that the user will only have one usable hand, as the other will have to constantly hold the light. They are also too small to light up a whole room.

Most Glow torches can give bright light for about three to four hours before the user runs out of Glow. This also depends strongly on the user's Glow prowess, their Luminosity, the time of day, and how much Glow they had stored at the start.

Night Lights

An adjacent technology to the Glow torch is a night light powered by Glow. These devices use the same logic as a Glow torch but are built to retain more Glow for longer and cast a wider range of light. They are usually provided to children, who will either charge them up at the beginning of the night with their own Glow, or put them out into the suns to charge during the day before taking them in for the night.

Bigger versions of night lights are Glow lamps, which are used as street lights in some cities. Glow lamps are a little more complicated than a simple night light, as they need to last much longer as well as weather the elements.

Access & Availability

Glow torches are easy to make, but they range in value depending on the quality of the materials and craftsmanship put into them. Higher quality Glow torches have more and better lenses, purer pieces of kaalite, and sturdier frames.

Cheap Glow torches can be found almost anywhere, or even DIY'd at home. Fancier torches are usually only found in specialized Auratech trinket shops, and cost a shiny stone to acquire.
